THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

The exact wording 'The path of the souls' is most common in native american belief and refers to the Milky Way it self(the bright band as seen from earth).

I found this quote a bit intriguing:

'Souls journeyed to the west where they made a leap of faith to the sky. The souls then made a journey along the Milky Way until they reached the most important spot on the path. This was at the Great Rift of the Milky Way, where they encountered an enigmatic Adversary located at the Constellation of Cygnus.'

and

'Sirius and Antares are the dog stars that guards the ends of the "path of souls', the Milky Way. Sirius, in the winter sky, guards the eastern end, while Antares in the summer sky, guards the western end.'

Be sure to bring enough food for both dogs or you will be wandering the path for eternity. ;)

In my point of view, if the path of the souls is the Milky Way as it could be seen from the Earth, this is a kind of confirmation that the starting point is at Sol (the Phaethon's argument and also the fact that Drew Wagar told us that it will be very usefull to have the Sol's permit soon).

Thoughts : I found very interesting that, in the native american belief, Sirius was the guardian of the eastern end in the winter sky. Remember : winter is coming ^^
But we must have in mind that the Sun, from the Earth, begin his journey from the East, and its ending to the West (I don't know if it is realy relevant, just putting it here as it was come to my mind when I read your comment).

The Cherokee supposedly believed that the Orion Nebula was the portal to the path of souls.

At least according to this video:

I don't quite know what to make of it. It's a bit 'out there', but it does contain a dark rift and some ancient structures similar to the ruins. Some inspiration may have been taken from it?

C'mon, what are friends for, just give me the keys to your ship (login and password that is), and I can do a bit of hard work for you. Make sure you have enough insurance money, as I am not such a great pilot ;)

Right... There are rules...

You can't fly the Golden Phallus, or the Teleki Bengal. The rest are ok.

Maybe the Vulture, but I can build a spare for you...

Z...

I think the connexions with the navite american belief become more and more interesting.
I didn't know that for them, Orion was the portal to the path of souls.
Barnard's Loop is surronding the Orion's Nebula. It could connecting all that things with the barnacles, and then, with "the recent events in the Pleiades".
The ruins just blown my mind ^^

Yep, I like this thread, because there is a very little moaning in it, instead people just try to have fun. I am quite surprised that some decided to complain about what is coming on 29th April not even knowing what it will be - rly???

Anyways I made sure I will be at home and no matter what it will be I am going to enjoy myself because I deserve it ;)

At which point one can start calling himself a Rifter? Am I allowed based on the fact that I help in finding abandoned settlements or there are some sophisticated requirements?

If you find yourself flying a spaceship in your underpants by yourself in the void spaces of the galaxy you automatically qualiify.

The above link is definitely useful to get some backstory, but if you get a chance Drew's book Elite: Reclamation is a fantastic read, and if you are into audiobooks the production quality is top-notch (Character voices, sound effects, and theme music are all VERY well done). Just hoping Premonition is released as an audiobook too!

And as far as the Children of Raxxla goes, definitely not a fictional group, we are very much alive and kicking! Check out the link in my Sig if you're curious.
Agreed, I've just read it, and it's an excellent read/listen , although i will say, for the audio book they really should have got a woman to do the womans voices! But Toby Longworth doesn't do a bad job :)

Nice video! The first archaeological site, Moundville, Alabama, is literally just a two hour drive from my house.

Where is the video located with the clues.

I'm going to post it on the FB group.

Drew if you can keep an eye out for it then you can make a comment x

From what I can gather there will be a Cor gathering on the 29th that will probably require lots of pilots to help Salome while there may be some wanting to kill Salome on the side of Patreus.

Prob starting on Achenar but seems likely it's an original system, as Im seeing reference to original elite. Maybe a convoy to a destination unknown ( Prism maybe ).

Possibly Reclemation part 2 !! Salome/Kahina's unfinished business do or die type situation.

So don't the smaller ones give any boost? I have tried twice to do a boosted jump. First time I got the fsd supecharged message, so I went into the galmap & pondered my route but when I came out of galmap the boost seemed to have disappeared- is there a time period for this to work?
The second time I went into a smaller cone & didn't get any fsd supercharge message.

How does this mechanism work exactly??

Thank you

I did a search on you tube and Google and looked on The Children of Raxxla page but couldn't find it.

There shud be clues to how to find the video clues.

Okay, so I'm back in the Bubble now and I've sold my data.

The full list of Earth like worlds I came across in the Rift is as follows:

Tyroopps OY-Q D5-2 B4
Dryio Phoe KT-F D12-2 AB 7
Schee Hypue PC-M C10-0 2
Myoidee AL-M C21-0 6
Myoidee FM-D D12-6 4

Nice!
I don't suppose you know how far they are from Eafots EU-R C4-1 system do you?

Hi guys,

Sorry if I am late to the party here but I just recently got the Formidine Rift bug and now I can't stop reading about it. In reading Drew's posts and clues he mentions that we should look for the core of the problem etc. I noticed that what is called the Dumbbell Nebula in the game is also called the Apple Core Nebula in various astronomy websites. I know this nebula is not far from Sol, just about 1330 ly or so and should probably be pretty well explored by now but perhaps someone close by want to check out the area.

See you out there CMDRs!

.

Don't really trust many groups, governments or so called leaders, but on that choice the arrogant bloke with a stick up his posterior is definitely bottom of the list.

I would say you already meet the three essential requirements:
1) you regularly contribute to this thread
2) you don't whinge about the puzzles that we are given
3) you are interested in the FRift mystery

I would say some knowledge of Reclamation is advisable (and desirable) to be a Rifter, but is not essential; possibly you don't even have to visit the FRift!
;)
