Mmm, still waiting for the newsletter to arrive. Not in email trash folder, & can't find it on the forum either.

Edit: Also a new Galnet article about the ongoing Pleiades cold war - https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/58de2f2515ac1cf85c132945

Recent reports indicate that the Empire has expanded into the Pleiades, having established a number of outposts in the HR 1185 system.

Katherine Ryder, a freelance journalist and seasoned war correspondent, commented on the development:

"Things might have been quiet recently, but that doesn't mean the situation with the Empire and the Federation has improved. This is a cold war, after all."

"Regardless of claims to the contrary, this conflict is about one thing: meta-alloys. Both sides want Maia and Merope because of the barnacles they contain, and both sides will keep pushing into those systems."

"Eventually, one of two things will happen: one side will withdraw...or neither side will. In the latter scenario, war seems inevitable."

Politicians on both sides of the divide have urged the superpowers to engage in amicable talks and establish some kind of agreement over the meta-alloys, but such entreaties have so far fallen on deaf ears.

HR 1185 hey? I wonder what these outposts are called? Anyone in-game able to check please?

Hi guys,

Sorry if I am late to the party here but I just recently got the Formidine Rift bug and now I can't stop reading about it. In reading Drew's posts and clues he mentions that we should look for the core of the problem etc. I noticed that what is called the Dumbbell Nebula in the game is also called the Apple Core Nebula in various astronomy websites. I know this nebula is not far from Sol, just about 1330 ly or so and should probably be pretty well explored by now but perhaps someone close by want to check out the area.

See you out there CMDRs!

Don't see no stations in HR 1185. There's a black hole...

blah, blah, blah
did some math, got some coords
(see source for the tl;dr)

-8280, -43, -13445

So I made my way to a system approximately at those coords, HYUEKH XG-O C9-0. Nice place, 51 bodies (belt clusters included), 4 terraform candidates - one, a WW. Nothing at objects orbiting primary. Moving on to secondary(a nice binary star) 81kls away and slowly scanning the objects orbiting the pair's barycenter first.

A long haul, lots of dwarf fields, but not much to report CMDRs. If I were planning an exodus, there's worse places than this to choose.

The stations will probably be added when 2.3 drops.

EDIT: The number of times that I've tried following something in Galnet only to find out that the content hasn't been added into the game:

Galnet sometimes requires patience to let the game-universe reality catch up with it.

The Golden Phallus? Is that your gold Eagle?

No, it's my gold exploration Anaconda. The name was given because Gold was the only available skin when the Distant Worlds expedition was about to start, and I threatened to name my ship The Golden Phallus™ if they didn't release some more skins before we started. true to form, FD released the skins 2 weeks after we set off, so I named my ship The Golden Phallus™, and made sure it was in as many places as possible that were covered in streams and the like, and mentioned the name at every opportunity.

HA! That showed 'em!

I've recently gotten more involved with the Rift, Salome, Raxxla, etc., and had a question that recently popped into my head. It is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering if there would be any benefits to being ranked with the Alliance and being granted permits to Alliance specific systems.

I've not done a lot for the Alliance mission-wise, and with all that goes on between the Feds and Imps, the Alliance always seems to be very quiet to me. I just began wondering what, if anything, they might be hiding. We all know the Feds and Imps are hiding information, and I don't want to leave the Alliance out of the equation.

\tinfoil hat on

So about the above galnet article: mention of "Katherine Ryder" should connect the meta-alloys to speculation about Raxxla.

\tinfoil hat off

Tenuous, I know. Also, I don't believe Raxxla would have anything to do with the FRift even if it were in-game.

MashdTaytuz, I think you're absolutely right. Have been thinking the same thing: things have been awfully quiet regarding the Alliance, while the Fed/Imp conflict has been propped up, with some Sirius speculation as seasoning.

Liz Ryder requires 200 tons of landmines. Landmines are connected to Raxxla?

No really ... I get you. The first thing I think of when I see "Ryder" in anything to do with Elite is Raxxla. Certainly worth keeping an eye on Kitty Ryder there.

The player group I fly with has completed their objective of claiming their home system, which has freed me up to resume pursuing leads related to the Rift, and other ingame mysteries. My line of thinking in regards to the Alliance came about because the first thing to do is to try and eliminate all the craziest ideas and theories you have. My tboughts on the Alliance might be crazy, but I'm trying to work my way towards more solid, plausible, ideas.

Many thanks. It actually arrived at 23:01. FTL comms must be slowing down!

I have a similar opinion. The Alliance is far too quiet. So logical meta thinking indicates there is something significant going on. I've been allied with them for a couple of weeks & have the Alioth permit, but haven't found anything yet, but it's worth an ongoing search. But it does seem like FD policy to not implement things until the storyline has need of it (& sometines after that) so whatever there is to find may not yet be in-game.

Personally I blame Microsoft for slowing down the QA cycle!

According to my highly scientific paper napkin calculations, 200T of landmines will, indeed, blast you into the next Galaxy. Ryder/Raxxla connection + wormhole theory confirmed.

But Drew has already confirmed that the Rift story and Raxxla are not related.

Now if you will excuse me, I only have 14 hours left to finish photoshoping an old derelict Dodecahedron station which I will claim I found in the DRYAEA AIRG sector...
