THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

According to my highly scientific paper napkin calculations, 200T of landmines will, indeed, blast you into the next Galaxy. Ryder/Raxxla connection + wormhole theory confirmed.

Z...

So will 50T of Lavian Brandy, in fact that will also blast you into next year and a parallel universe so Didi is the engineer to have.

So I've just taken a passenger mission to this visitor beacon giving some history for the Wreaken Corporation. Thought I'd post the text here since it's relevant just in case you guys haven't seen it before:

Is there a repository of tourist beacon text I wonder? I was keeping them all in my in game messages but that was getting rather cluttered. One thing I do think the game lacks at the moment is something that teaches new players about the background and lore of the Elite universe. I often think the Feds get a lot of bias, as new players start in the Federation, and the most famous Federation in Sci-Fi is probably that in Star Trek (Kirk and Picard tend to be better known than Servalan and Travis). And that they therefore assume they are the good guys (it's also not helped by the rather similar logos. Although making the Feds red on the map was a good call. That's a whole other topic of discussion but I think the map colours for major powers are well chosen). If there was a solid in game lore repository people (who care) would feel more grounded in the universe.

As an aside, as I am on the topic, I would also like to see the choice of multiple start locations, some in the Core Worlds some in the Empire, some in the Alliance, one in the Old worlds and many in the Frontiers, each given a slightly different early experience.

My favourite view so far, from somewhere in the Rift, not sure what that NPC ship is doing here 10,000Ly from Sol..

I really hope we get the location of the Formidine Rift area narrowed down before the mystery is revealed, the current area of where we think the Formidine Rift is, is a vast area!

Very nice view. I can't help but think this means something; this is important.

I'd have thought any in-game lore repository would be at Shinrarta Dezhra ... Almost like a Jedi Temple type library, held securely with the pilot's federation; some special station that contains all the histories of the three super powers and the power play powers.

Maybe even have the tourist beacon text unlock as you visit them so they're always held for you at this station.

In fact why not make it so it's all discoverable text - abandoned settlements, ancient ruins, plus a list of your first discoveries. It'd be the universal cartographics station!

I agree with most of this, but I also think the fact they control the largest population, and Sol are major factors too.

Having said that, I decided partly based on lore surroundings the founding of the Federation along with the blanket ban on slavery that I was semi-loyal, but critical of them at the same time.

There's a new GalNet article regarding Salomé: https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/58de2fdf15ac1c5d76132945

Text in spoiler tags.

01 APR 3303

Reports have been received from Imperial space that many Imperial pilots are defying the standing kill-on-sight order on Commander Salomé. The pilots pledging to support the disgraced senator are offering escort services and fuel, and have even promised to reward other Commanders willing to help.

"The issue is that we are not in possession of the facts," said Commander Jayridium, who is offering up to 50 times the listed bounty to anyone who can arrange a meeting with Salomé. "I am joining the effort to protect her. The truth must be heard!"

Commander Jayridium joins several others in an effort to help Salome – an effort that could make them outcasts.

I never post, but I read you everyday. I was surprised nobody posted it here.

Hasn't been mentioned probably because it's a freelance report, which means player submitted, which means NOT official storyline or lore. Nice write up though :)

Aha, got it. Thought those articles once they passed FD filter were canon, so to say.

Whilst I take them with a slightly different weight to FDEV written ones, EG I would not expect any of them to be driving the main background plots, I do take them as canon. Well, I take the ones I wrote as canon! (3 to date). :p
