ED Steamcharts "4,000" active players. Pathetic

You made a post in which you said 'Carebears/Elite white knights like alternative facts, so they'll use dank words like "misrepresentation", "hypothesis" or "extrapolation"...' right after this one:

I don't recall anyone else using the word extrapolate, so has that jogged your memory sufficiently? Now sorry, you were saying something about alternative facts?

Poor little creature yourself. Funny, I actually had a higher opinion of your intelligence and integrity than that. My bad.

You sound salty.

Ok...I'll bite on your pointlessly rude and dismissive reply.

I bought my PC copy on my Steam account...one I've had for over 7 years since my last bout of PC gaming. Relevant enough for you? [rolleyes]

How was I rude ?

I said go read the OP which is about the steam numbers. We are not talking about consoles. They are irrelevant for PC because they don't share the same servers.

Do you not understand the OP ? OP is concerned about the health of the population on PC.

That's it, not hard to understand.

I take it your link to "Is Your Forex Broker A Scam?" is trying to imply inventing.com, the source of this Frontier cash flow statement, is a scam.

Let us know when you can be bothered to read the accounts on Frontier's own website. They show the same cash flow figures. Cash down by about £1.8million in each of the last three accounts.

I did...

as one other poster indicated op is just a doom preacher: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8157&page=121&p=1617126&viewfull=1#post1617126

What's also not hard to understand is that the Steam stats do not paint the entire picture, despite what you doubters and doomsayers have to say. And Frontier themselves seem happy with it (from the latest interim report I previously cited - my emphasis):

Elite Dangerous continues to perform well - by the end of December 2016 a total of over 2.1 million paid
franchise units had been sold.

We don't know the actual numbers, Frontier do. The OP was a troll post, and this feeding has gone on long enough IMO.

I'd rather boil my eyes than sign up to steam, so not one of my 8wks, 14 hrs & 28 minutes of gameplay has ever been logged to steam.

One of the ED updates temporarily broke Oculus support ingame, was forced to use Steam to get it working, was like a having a virus on my machine, couldn't wait to ditch it. This forum took a huge dive once FD started selling the game on Steam.

My post... the one you seem to have some difficulty or issues with... was in direct reply to someone else and not the OP.

Personally, I couldn't give two large brown piles about your predictions of doom over Steam stats... like most stats, they mean diddly squat unless you want to read something or other out of context from them.

You know after reading this thread I started to wonder, and I can't remember a time when just a couple of weeks or so before the next Update things weren't quiet. Just about with every update I can remember has this effect.

Apparently diddly diddly squats out of diddly squat say that on average diddly squat are actually diddly squat instead!

Is there a cunning plan associated with them? ;)

No my Lord, just some mud and bits of worms.

ABOUT STEAM CHARTS

The number of active players may be different.

But it is a huge and valid sampling.

Therefore, game stagnation (graph linearity) is real.

For comparison, see some games that have growth trend:

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege - http://steamcharts.com/app/359550#All
Arma 3 - http://steamcharts.com/app/107410#All
Eurotruck 2 - http://steamcharts.com/app/227300#All

For a game that wants to receive updates for 10 years, stagnation is not an option.

Either it grows or it dies.

Just be aware you are comparing Elite to established games, Elite has been out 2 years, and is hardly established heck the whole space genre has only slowly been gaining 'general' popularity of late.

So yeah.....i'm not sure what you mean by stagnation, especially again because steamspy isn't perfect, could it be better, sure, but stagnent? I don't think so.

Maybe instead you should read the previous posts about steamspy, and instead of comparing elite to well established games, compare it to newer, games of the same genre, a genre, that is not a main stream genre of late. Just you know, to get some actual comparing done.
Find games within the space/sim genre, 2 years of age or so?

Because your comparison right there is like saying
"More people are drinking coffee rather then this new brand of drink that came out a few years ago, and hasn't really been gaining consumers, this new drink must be dying." despite it gaining slowly and steadily, and at worst, holds the same amount of interest as at release?

And no I'm not saying Elite is perfect or couldn't be doing better, the only thing I am saying is "Elite is doing fine for what it is, and is most definitely not deserving the doom and gloom posts it gets."

Is it because I is a steam user? Coz, y'know, they're all the same, innit? Just like anyone from any particular race is the same, or religion, or background, or area, or sexual orientation, innit brah?

Really? What is that? Is it some kind of vent for a prejudice that society no longer accepts, so you direct it at steam users? Apologies for singling just you two out, I could have picked any number of posters from this thread, but the vitriol is beyond me, completely.

Don't take it personally ;-) I have a lot of friends that use Steam for Assetto. It would be rediculous to claim that all Steam users are the same, on the flip side there's no denying that it attracts a certain type of gamer, it is literally the fast food joint of gaming - You only need to spend a small amount of time on the forums to see that.

What do I think of Steam itself? I'd get a ban if I typed it here.. On the plus side I found the support staff to be excellent.

Nice to see someone got my reference. :)

Personally, I would prefer Haggis, Tatties, and a wee dram of Scotch to go with the Turnips... with the Hamburgers, Freedom Fries and HP Fruity Sauce would be nice :p

While the above is off-topic, it as about as relevant to ED popularity as the Steam stats some are throwing around like god's written word.
