THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Didn't seem like much. Once you drive away Pirate Faragut Battlecruiser, you get 5 Wreckage Components. There could have been a mission to recover those, but my exploration vessel is an Anaconda, so i couldn't land on Stepping Stone Base and had to sell them at a black market for a glorious sum of 300 Cr.

Lol, don't spend it all at once! ;)

For those of you who like blowing stuff up...

ninja'd by Mal604 :)

Thx for the tip, went there for some fun.
As I was dealing with first wing of pirates, the second Farragut showed up, and they started fighting - quite a view. First one is marked as "Pirates", never seen pirate capital class ship :)
After that I got second wing of baddies, this time more challenging 5 ships, but no match for engineered Python, and this looks like the end, the Farraguts shoot at each other.
Will stay to take some pictures and I'm off - thx again, nice break from exploring :)

Checked mission board, just lots of donation missions for Sirius, probably good place to get reputation with them if anyone needs it.

Thanks Cmdr, and also to Cmdr Baton.

Actually how did you decipher the Herald message? :) The only thing I understood was 773 :)

I assume you recognized the NATO phonetic alphabet.

It's a keyed caesar cipher http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/caesar-keyed.php) with the keyword 'NOTIFY'.
I decoded it by hand since the online tools I tried didn't help.
Fortunately I'd jumped there from V773 Cassiopeiae, so I immediately recognized that as being the first part of the message. That gave me enough of a translation of the rest of the message that a couple of educated guesses gave me everything.

C'mon, I'm just being realistic. I really want to see if Cmdr evaldo10 has the money he is offering, I never saw 200M in goods :)
I saw more in cash during (in)famous CG, when I made over 300M, but that was long time ago....

Anyways slowly heading towards Hop 21484, see if there is anything important on it, and please don't panic, my ship is armed in one mining laser, so I cannot be danger to anyone out there, never understood explorers armed to their teeth's, if some military/pirate/alien ship will attack you, you stand no chance anyway with no armour and proper shields, so what is the point :)

Don't worry about the money I have over 1bn in creds and just under 2bn in assets.

In our home system we have Pristine metallic rings.

Will take a few trips to deliver of course.

But we have more than 10 cutters in Sap Core.

If you can locate her and track her until I arrive then that's fine as I know you can't physically capture her.

If any of the core characters mentioned are killed prior or during the events of 29th April, they are dead. This is currently Salomé, Raan and Tsu as per the GalNet article.

Cheers,

Drew.

What's the situation with Xbox players Drew.

I was kind if thinking using a pc player to get a chat through a combination of discord and comms.

I have no interest politically in her staying alive or dying but more after certain information x

Xbox commanders cant interact in-game with Salomé for obvious reasons, however Drew recently posted this over in the xbox boards -

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/339899-In-game-event-coming-up

So there will be something for xbox players to interact with, but as of writing this it is still a mystery what that will be.

He mentioned three characters pivotal to the 29th, Salomé, Raan and Tsu... Salomé is on PC, could Raan and Tsu be out there on xbox and or mac?

I would be extremely skeptical of any xbox cmdrs with those gamertags as it has been known for trolls to use the character names to waste peoples time. There is of course on xbox a Salome, a Raan, even a Luciano as well but as far as I know they are not actual characters. They are either coincidences (find hard to believe since they all play ED apparently) or people trying to get 30 seconds of popularity. Unless we get official word that there are official xbox player-characters I wouldn't bother adding anyone.

Actually from memory I believe "the hunt" event from a while back did indeed have xbox player-characters involved, but they were not returning friend requests so wasn't a point in adding them anyway. Would be nice to have some player-characters for this event, but it is a fine line to walk, say if people on xbox did the exact opposite to what people on PC did in regards to Salomé, that would break the story!

Would be cool though if one of these characters at least - Hassan, Luciano, Raan Corsen or Tsu Annabelle Singh - were available for interaction exclusively on other platforms. As I said though I wont waste my time adding anyone with those names unless its confirmed they are actually player-characters.

Like I said, I only fight some ships, yes rank certainly matters! ;)
Re intentions being armed, yes that's very true, all I can do is assure people that I won't attack them, weapons are for defence only, I'm no pirate, & never have been, never even had a pirate char.
So, if you come across me, you've nothing to worry about :) (did we meet already at 1 of the 4 rift beacons?).

Back to Rift stuff ;)
When I get back to the bubble, if Salome needs protecting, I have an FDL I could call into action (although it's not very well kitted out atm).

Planning on returning to the bubble next week, kitting out the Corv, and I'll fly your wing CMDR!

You all have no idea who's puppet Salome is, but you're all happily rushing off to play white knight to her damsel in distress.
It's amazing what people will do for the hot girl.
</RP>

Ask yourselves "Who rescued Salome?"

[Clue] It wasn't CoR

I'm willing to bet two english pence it was the Alliance.

(or Luko and Co... or the Dark Wheel, which may be the same thing).

Haha I'm far from considering Salomé a damsel in distress!

Salomé is nothing to me, she speaks a big game but what has she really given the galaxy? She says she has knowledge the galaxy needs to know but has made a poor effort of spreading said knowledge. Sure her enemies are many, but so are her allies.

Within a 24 hours she could have an audience of hundreds of thousands, millions, even billions if she tried. Within 24 hours she may also be dead, we all know it only takes a single mistake and that's it - that's the galaxy we live in.

I will protect Salomé if the opportunity arose, but only because I would do the same for anyone. As more information comes to light about this whole thing I reserve the right to change my mind, but she would have to have committed pretty heinous atrocities to look worse in my eyes than the superpowers.
<RP>

Who rescued Salomé from which situation? There have been a few now I think about it, not sure which one you refer to?

I like to shift the pips around from shields to weapons, depending on the situation, so I don't always want full pips to weaps.
I'm used to the beams stopping firing when the cap is drained, what I'm not used to is that they sometimes permanently malfunction (until repaired) & taking damage after a few(?) times over heating, this didn't used to be the case until the end (ish) of last year. At 1st I thought it was due to special weapon affects from the enemy, but this only accounted for 1 battle at the time (been mostly in the rift the past few mths).
So is damage been taken from over heating the norm now? (btw AFAIR I haven't engineered the beams on my Asp....... I think!).

Re my engine focused 4D PD (only grd 1 IIRC, IDK how many rolls), well I think it has enough energy! lol, but TBH I haven't been in a battle since engineering my Asp.
But there is enough energy for them to all work, & it boosts. Sequential boosting gives me 370-395 m/s vs 377-395 with the std 4A. I gained ~0.5 LYs j/r.
As for your Python, maybe you lost some engine capacity & gained recharge rate. If the capacity was only just enough originally, then even a tiny loss would prevent boosting.

Yeah - weapons take stupid amounts of damage form their own heat. I find this mechanic a bit annoying, and would have prefer weapons simply shut down once they reach peak heat, but my solution has been simply to engineer "efficient" weapons. Sadly, no beam variant, but the burst version does well enough.

Z...

I'm willing to bet two english pence it was the Alliance.

(or Luko and Co... or the Dark Wheel, which may be the same thing).

How did the Alliance manage to choose the names of the escort ships for the prison transport?
Short answer - they didn't, so it's not the Alliance.

Luko, the fake Italian gentleman adventurer? Yeah, he's definitely involved in this, but I don't believe it's the Dark Wheel, because of the Dark Wheel medallion which was left behind when Kahina went missing the first time. Shadowy organizations do not leave calling cards.

Well, the 'It wasn't CoR' thing applies to all of them, but I was specifically referring to the prison transport, where our secret faction revealed themselves in the names of the destroyed ships.

I agree, Salome knows nothing - she's just a mouthpiece for the real players.
