THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Yeah - weapons take stupid amounts of damage form their own heat. I find this mechanic a bit annoying, and would have prefer weapons simply shut down once they reach peak heat, but my solution has been simply to engineer "efficient" weapons. Sadly, no beam variant, but the burst version does well enough.

The amount of engineering I've done to get this right is ridiculous.

It's still not perfect but not far off.

Sometimes the medium rolls are better. Is all I'm saying

Yes... An this is why I wish FD would let us adjust the sliders ourselves, as it would allow us to set weapons up to match the ship. Anyone that min maxes everything would be building an oven, but intelligent modifications would result in some interesting loadouts.

And our time wouldn't be constantly wasted... But I digress! I'm actually fairly happy with my Vulture, it's just an epic big ship killing weapons right now. They can't touch me - two pips to weapons, for to thrusters, and non stop orbit around my big ship prey - they can't land a shot. I just need to engineer the power distributer...

G5 dirty drives also mean I can bail out quick if it gets a bit too hot. Thos rail gun small ships can be nasty. they never g miss! Wish I could buy jitter free turret rails that do full damage...

For me the hardest ship to get perfect is the Python.

It's my everyday ship and getting the balance is tough.

The Vette is straightforward. My FDL is long range so simple enough. Smaller ships are easy as they serve a purpose and my Condas are for exploration and trading.

My type 9 is a miner and I kill most things with shock mines and missles and a bit of engineered thruster that I stole off my Conda.

I put dirtys on all my medium ships as i don't want to lose if I can't win.

Dont need it on my large or small ships.

Either quick enough or last ling enough.

Medium ships are the toughest for engineering I think

I put G5 dirties on all my ships - basically, I like to do things fast - docking included, and landing on things. G5's make this happen with everything. 360+ boost Anaconda is kinda fun, too...

I'm actually in the process of engineering my Python, I'm going to give it a go as a conflict zone gunship, as I just don't seem to get along with the FDL, or maybe I'm just using it wrong... I think I'm too used to the agility of the Vulture and I need to re-adjust my tactics. Long range sniper may be an idea, actually. Anyway, I'll mess with it as time goes, but for now, I think I want my Python back online...

And, by heavens I'm sick of looking for Cadmium.

How did the Alliance manage to choose the names of the escort ships for the prison transport?
Short answer - they didn't, so it's not the Alliance.

Luko, the fake Italian gentleman adventurer? Yeah, he's definitely involved in this, but I don't believe it's the Dark Wheel, because of the Dark Wheel medallion which was left behind when Kahina went missing the first time. Shadowy organizations do not leave calling cards.

Well, the 'It wasn't CoR' thing applies to all of them, but I was specifically referring to the prison transport, where our secret faction revealed themselves in the names of the destroyed ships.

I agree, Salome knows nothing - she's just a mouthpiece for the real players.

And if you really want to think about it, consider what Octavias plan was for Kahina Loren in reclamation :O

In all honesty, who is to say Salomé is actually who she claims to be? How would her followers react to such a betrayal I wonder? I suspect Octavia survived the events of reclamation, but whether she has the reins or someone else does - anyone's guess. Just as likely Salomé could be working towards her own ends, or working for some other shady organization. The last thing on my list is that she actually wants to help the galaxy - actions speak louder than words and her actions show the contrary.

I'm just saying, its not the most out there speculation I have had :)

Beer guts :D

I doubt it's a political entity that's going to get too much involved in this situation.

There are multiple interests outside of political ones that are interested for many reasons.

Alliance has no interest politically in Salome but at the same time has an interest.

Not all Imps want Salome dead which is politically interesting for the Imps but some persons shout louder than others.

The Feds I'm sure would love to use Salome as a pawn but their interests are within control and expansion.

I think the Imps are going to suffer here for having too many vested interests against too many enemies.

Salome is just a further embarrasment to this situation and they want to cull it.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out but I stand by my reward and that reward could possibly increase substantially.

There will be no winners merely players.

Myself, Sap Core Legion and probaby ( not officially ) Alliance merely wish to play

And that's the dilemma - we simply don't have enough data to make an informed decision, and yet people are preparing to kill and to die to protect one woman who has consistently shown herself to be ruthless and self-centered.

It'll end in tears, you mark my words.

I guess I need to figure out the Rift solution in the next 4 weeks to that we can all forget about Salome again.

The only thing that's important is what she has stored in her brain.

The rest will play out as it will play out I guess.

It's a valuable brain though for us rifters.

Join me in the cocktail bar of my Anaconda - located on the viewing deck. Strategically located at the bow of the ship, this will ensure the lowest profile whilst facing the unfolding events, minimising risk of stray fire landing hit. I have popcorn, pretzels, cheese wine and beer. I believe Gino's brick oven Pizza located in Old Venice on Sol can deliver in 30 minutes with their new long range Haulers.

We can pick over the ashes in the aftermath!

Oh, I also have a La Marzocco Mistral coffee machine.

The Empire (and others) wanted to silence her; that's good enough for me!
</RP>

Trust no one, Scully...

They all seem to have shady motivations, and it's pretty difficult to figure out who's actually got humanities best interests at heart. If any... The woman who was willing to kill thousands to take back a system she didn't want to control? The powers that hex-edit memories, and are willing to stop at nothing to silence someone who *may* know "something"?

Various "good on the surface" but ultimately very dodgy looking folk that seem to magically appear in places that make no sense, just at the right moment? Megacorps that may even be betting each way...

I'll stay neutral, and pick a side if it suits me. All I know is, there's something that way *points towards H&S*, no ones seems to know what it is, but everyone wants to figure it out/control it, without anyone else knowing.

<RP>
It's exactly this kind of blind tribalism that's going to result in the galaxy burning to the ground.

I'll bring the marshmallows and sausages.

ruthless and self-centered.

Sure sounds like anyone who's reached Elite in any of the rankings to me ;)

YT didn't get Elite combat by disabling ships...
Didn't get Tycoon by running basic meds to healthy systems.
Didn't make Pioneer because I thought the stars "just needed someone to find them"

Ruthless, industrious (just short of exploitive), self-centered (because I wanted to be there first).

But throw in a mojito and I'm purty durned cuddly! [yesnod]
