THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

After I posted the comment about the missing galnet I kept digging and found it so quickly came back here to redact my point, not quick enought as you must have been typing as I was editing my post. Thanks for the infor and sorry for ninja'ing you.

You must have made your edit while I was still looking up dates, lol. Nice ninja!

Someone accidentally inserted a Federation symbol into that poster. Papa Hudson doesn't keep secrets

And that's why Papa Hudson was never told the secrets. :p

She 'gave up' responsibility for the welfare of millions/billions of people to go play at heroic space adventurer.

That's pretty much the definition of selfish.

"Today I want to retake the Prism system! It's MINE!"

"Oh no! Consequences! Cuthrick, could you please clean this mess up while I go space adventuring with my new friend? Thanks, love!"

"Oh no! Consequences! Patreus took control of the situation while I was out ignoring my resposibilities. I want his head on a platter for acting like a responsible adult! Hrmph!"

"There's this terrible thing out here in the Formidine Rift and I've been sitting on this information for over a year now. I should head out ... to Beagle Point! I hear Distant Worlds is quite the party!"

I'm looking forward to reading Premonition just to find out what this girl's reasoning in all this has been. She does seem to be carried about by the wind.

And it's the kind of truths whose intended revelation can be broadcast a month in advance? Those powers must be quaking in their boots.

Maybe that is the secret. Terrible loss of power if everyone finds out that El Pres doesn't have secret sinister means of control. :)

Can't rep you, so have a virtual +1

It's also clear that she loves having a fan club. As long as people are worshipping her, she's happy.

You think so? I have her more pictured as an introvert that sees her fans as useful but unpleasant.

Kahina? An introvert? Hmm.

"Two words Mister President - Plausible Deniability"

Lots of truth to that. I have a theory that Halsey's disappearance really broke a sucession of knowledge passed down between Presidents. I think one of the reasons they kept her locked up on Mars was to interrogate her for any info that Hudson might need as President.

For some reason, she reminds me strongly of both Servalan and Ambassador Delenn... neither of whom I would want to cross and both being dangerous to have as a friend, in different ways. I suspect she has few answers herself but I'm hoping that she at least has the right questions.
.
Possibly related note: 2.3 The Commanders key art features some interesting-looking characters and for some reason I keep thinking that the one with the wry smile in the centre is Raan Corsen... . I wonder if these are characters we'll be meeting in Premonition, or featuring in game (or both).

You know... I always did wonder how we found new routes to the Formidine Rift during Distant worlds. Because, like.. We were going the wrong way!

Unless... The Galaxy actually wraps end to end? Still a long way 'round...

That's a little uncalled for - At the end of the day we are all just players trying to enjoy a game in our own way. Hate on the character all you want, but don't slump to name calling another group of players.

I think you misread his post. Generally speaking, we, the people feel that "royalty" see the general populous as horrible little peasants. He did actually mean we, the players were...

There's something in the Kahina K(ah)oolAid that makes them hypersensitive. I've given up trying to avoid offending them :S

It's possible, I read it has "interacting with her horrible little peasents" as in referencing CoR and our interactions with Salome in-game.

@DrewCarnegie If I misunderstood your post then I apologize for jumping on you.

Apology accepted :D

I need to change my forum name to <RP>DrewCarnegie, so it's clear that nothing is intended as a personal insult - since I consistently rub CoR members up the wrong way ;)

Hmm, possibly, but it'd be too high risk a strategy to embed all the knowledge in the figure with the highest public profile and the most likely target for any assassination, so others would have the knowledge too. I wonder how many expired in the SS1 disaster, but again having all the knowledge on the highest profile ship in the galaxy would be such a high risk strategy it suggests that most would not have been aboard SS1.

I loved Reclamation, the story and how well written it is. I also enjoy viewing CMDR Salome with suspicion. It's fun roleplay. Think about how much of her story the general population actually knows. It shouldn't be surprising if the majority of the news reading public considers her to be a selfish and self serving Imperial courtesan ... and there is plenty of evidence to back that up. At best she's a flawed hero and I'm not sure if I'd want to be her friend. Can I help it if I was kind of rooting for the Reclamists? They didn't deserve what Algreb Loren rained down on them. The moral ambiguity behind all of the characters in Reclamation makes it feel like it exists in a real universe.

...and it's okay to be a little offended. I'm offended by Kahina justifying Imperial Slavery. Just remember that we're all friends in here. Wrapping your offense in a cloak of RP goes a long way toward diffusing an unnecessary flame war. :)

I think Kahina actually would look down on CoR as nothing but a bunch of "horrible little peasants" like the rest of us unwashed masses. I'm not sure about this Salome person though. Would she judge us on merit or social station?

Judging from her haircut and pouty demeanour, she's just going through an Emo phase. She'll grow out of it.

You're just deflecting attention from the fact that your Ouroboros is lurking down there at the bottom.
What aren't you telling us, Mr Tu?

That Ouroboros is an entirely different Ouroboros, sir. I'm not sure that I am happy with your implication, sir. GOOD DAY, SIR. :x
