So here I am on HIP 21484, huge planet, no point to search for something if we are not sure if there is something to find in my opinionBut lots of pilots here, so maybe someone will get lucky.
Was there yesterday. It really is a huge planet to search. But at least a nice view with the rings and the ringed planet above.
Unfortunately having it as a surprise would not work. The event is a player driven one, so the more players involved the better it will be, hence the "PR campaign".
No, I mean clearly being the odd one out, constantly being ridiculed by her sisters and chewed out by her father. Given she has had an aristocratic upbringing, but also a very skewed one, I would not be at all surprised if she is at least partly neurotic.
What follows is so much tin foil. Grasping at straws, really.
I wonder if HIP 21484 2 ever eclipses the primary star on the surface of HIP 21484 3. Such an eclipse has looked like it could nearly happen a few times. I had a theory that perhaps the dark region in such an eclipse might be a good region to search.
Another theory is that perhaps setting up a situation in which various interesting stars align might be good search areas. For example, get stars from Col Sector 70 such as R Leporis to align in the sky with HIP 21484. Another possibility is to search systems from HIP 21484 to bright stars near the Witchhead Nebula, such as HIP 23759. This system is interesting because Planet 3 there is also a member of a binary planetary system, quite close to a bright primary star, and is also a very large high metal content world with silicate vapour geological activity.
I searched around these areas a bit and could find nothing obvious.

Must admit I've only skim read the last 20 or so pages. I think it's mainly speculation, gossip and off topic stuff.

I've been on an elite break since the beta landed until we get 2.3 as I burnt myself out doing ruins Canonn stuff and now it all changes in 2.3, can't face it atm. And I don't want to play without multicrew and the new camera suite!

What coordinates were you at? Can't read them from the video
It looks like Lat: -47.48, Long: -134.92.
Am currently searching around that area. This is near a central uplift in a large complex impact crater. So far I hear no sounds and find no other pilots in open.

The sound in the video is similar to the sound that is activated during "search zone" type missions. There is a bug I have encountered numerous times in which that sound plays at random times. I've heard it on jumping into systems tens of thousands of light years from the bubble. The first time I heard it I presumed I found aliens. Alas, others randomly encounter this sound and it seems to be a bug.

I think she enjoyed all the passive aggressive parrying with her father and sisters spinning her back on them with a happy smirk on her face. Probably one of the few pleasures she got from family life was beating them at their own game. She got out of marrying the tool her sister,,whatshername Chlorine got stuck with. Neurotic maybe, with all she's been through maybe even PTSD or a bit of shock and emotional unavailability. She could probably use some me time, "let it go,,,"
I'd say forget who she was before popping out of the corpsicle box. Who knows if she ever recovered, she is who she is now whatever that is for good or ill. Not long now so we'll just see what she has to say.

Her body was pretty tough, but even if that didnt survive her mind may have - being stored earlier for transferring to Kahina. The pod is capable of saving and restoring a mind. Also to wipe a mind for that matter. There was a part where she went in the pod and had her doctor scan her to confirm her and Kahina were a match. Then he place a black tab on her forehead that was also the same kind of device used on Kahina - may have even been the same one as she had Kahinas black tab in her possession at that point.
So to follow -
Kahina when killed was put in the pod and had a black tab attached to her forehead. She was being healed and having her personality changed to be more suitable for the empires needs - or more specifically for Dalk who had come up with the plan for his own ends.
The pod was then captured by Octavia, who opened the pod (warning that mind may be corrupted opening the pod early was ignored) and removed the black tab.
Octavia later went inside the pod and had a black tab attached to her forehead. "Octavia looked at the small black device. It was such a tiny thing, but held all her remaining hopes and dreams. Once the girl had been found."
Kahina was then captured and put in the pod again, having the black tab attached once more to her forehead.
Kahina was rescued from the pod by Hassan, but the black tab was never mentioned again so I dont know what happened to it from that point on.
Anyway the point is it is possible that Salomé may not even have control of her body, her mind could be locked away into a dark little corner whilst Octavia runs the show. Also, it is not unheard of for a mind to live on without its original body, so I dont think Octavia is out of the picture completely.
We also have this question answered by Drew that makes me think we haven't heard the last of Octavia and her plans -

Octavia planned to put her mind in Kahinas body - eternal youth. She may have just wanted Kahina because she was a match for her. She has her own criminal operations that may be easier if she looked like Kahina but I dont think the original plan was to advance her political career. Just a matter of Kahina being young and beautiful and Octavia wanting that youth and beauty for herself. "Money and Power I have more than I could ever use. Time, that's the one thing that eludes me. The one thing our Imperial beauty here can give me."

Yes, there have been a few bugs with sounds playing out of context. But I think there were sounds reported near the central peak of the large crater on Merope 5C, so you may have something if its repeatable as you move around the surface. Does seem as though Salome wants us to look there

There is a tourist beacon somewhere that supposedly points out the location of Octavia's former asteroid base. There was no asteroid to look at, but perhaps that will change after the patch. However, such a beacon would seem a bit ermm "unreliable".
Anyway, it would appear that Octavia is in the game from a historical sense, in which case you'd have to think she's probably still lurking about somewhere.

I saw it posted on Drew's YouTube channel as a trailer... No thoughts on it as yet, I haven't the first clue about encryption or code breaking. These puzzles (even his simpler ones) from Drew are several orders of magnitude above my abilities, I'm afraid.
Phaethon's Reach sounds like a name that would be associated with a planetary outpost.
Phaethon was the guy who wanted to drive the sun chariot without a license and got himself a lightning bolt for his troubles...
If it's not the name of an outpost, then what is Phaethon's reach? As in, what did Phaethon reach for? Maybe Phaethon's Reach is a euphemism for the Sun? Could be that the location is Sol? But then, what is the Path of Souls? Greek mythology wise this could relate to the river Styx... Which is the name of one of Pluto's moons. Unfortunately the only moon of Pluto in ED is Charon; we're missing the other four.
So now I'm at a dead end.
Well thats cool, any idea where the beacon and asteroid are? Nothing to do with that asteroid that disappeared in HIP 16497?

The asteroid bases I have seen in pictures taken from the beta look nothing like how I pictured Octavias base, wouldn't exactly call them hidden. As cool as they are, I'm hoping Octavias base would be a bit less obvious.
I like Octavia Quinton, one of my favorite characters from the book. I respect that she knows what she wants, knows what she needs to do to achieve her goals, and has no issues doing whatever must be done to achieve those goals. Eternal life is a definitely a goal I would sign on for... Perhaps if I can find her base, Octavia and I could come to some kind of arrangement? I would never submit to her and call her Domina, and I definitely would never ever trust her. I would help her with her quest for immortality, as long as I too were able to drink from the fountain of youth. One lifetime will never be enough to learn everything and do everything I need to...

Pretty much along the same lines as discussed when trailer first was posted. Eridanus was the river Phaethon fell into. There is a constellation called Eridanus that is also known as the path of souls. The last star at the end of the constellation is Achenar. The final part of the trailer says "to make an end is to make a beginning".
It is presumed that the clues say "from sol, follow Eridanus until you reach Achenar". After much discussion here, that is my best guess at the moment. Could easily be wrong though. I have no clue what the letters and numbers mean in the coded part.

Except that you can't actually 'follow' Eridanus in any meaningful sense since it's made up of stars at wildly different distances from Sol but which happen to be in the same general direction.
The same mistake is made every time constellations appear in clues.
However, it could be that CoR don't intend people to physically follow the trail and that they simply meant to reference Achenar.

Re her responsibility, something she was railroaded into, not really by choice.
The leaders of the rebellion deserved to die for massacring her sisters and slaves/servants, only her father deserved to die for bombing that city.
As for the battle she started, yea that was wrong, but don't forget her mind had been seriously messed about with.
Because of the deaths she had caused in that battle she was the wrong person to lead the system ,and she knew it later on. Hence She did the right thing ceding control.
