What has FD got right in the game?

The forum is filled with threads telling FD what's wrong with the game, but we all know it has some great features as well. If there's something you think is a clear stand out in the game, post a short description below. I suspect the dev's would value that feedback when considering the future content and direction of the game. :)

EDIT - I'm impressed, some really useful feedback so far. Rep to the OP's, you know who you are :D

I dare say a lot of the negative threads are posted by the same 20-30 people.

I would imagine most people prefer to play the game than complain about it endlessly like this forum does.

Nearly everything. :D

Everyone else is just whining. Lol

Graphics, sound(especially), gameplay, sense of scale, etc. All are really good. Not perfect, but good. :)

My only disappointment is with the difficulty. I find everything too easy.
Everything else is good. :)

I'm not saying it can't be improved further, but it's good.

- Audio: deserves an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Cesar, a Golden Lion, a Golden Palm, etc.
- Flight model (SRV included)
- Modernizing original art (ships, cockpit, UI) and gamedesign
- Sense of scale and immersion
- Stellar Forge
- BGS, even if it's hard to grasp (*points at sense of scale*)
- Ed Lewis. Best community man ever: both genuinely dedicated and humble

Massive beautiful enviroment initially filled with a genuine feel or awe, scale and adventure.
This game has given me the best (in my experiance) sense of being an explorer in a realistic facsimile of our Galaxy.

however...
(ED NEEEDSSS!!!!!!! better community functions... Guilds....Corps....Player Factions....and community hubs (in game)).

Players create their own purpose in game when in groups and add layers of play value to a games static foundation.
The above Plus i just noted is a huge empty for me, and the friends i have made in game have little incentive to team up outside of any activity beyond Combat...

A cieling is fast hit in this game when you've seen and done it all. But community can make a game a home.

(Also the sound design....is amaising)

Graphics (when not glitched), sound, flight model and some atmosphere aspects like voices on the air traffic controllers and the new camera suite is fantastic. Gameplay itself is shallow, P2P is too glitchy and absolutely everything is instanced. Which is really the most important parts of any game.

Sounds, visuals, the sense of being in the ship and travelling. The basics of missions, mining, fighting, equipping a ship and driving around on planets. The hugeness of the galaxy and the ability to explore, silly little details and nods to the previous games and lore. A model that gets them some cash but isn't subscription or excessively PTW and the ability to play in different modes. A framework and base to build on for the future..
So quite a lot. I may have missed some things..
Many of these things can be built on and improved and tweaked but they've done a pretty good job and there is a lot of potential to do better.
So, despite my complaining from time to time, lots...

How you can't fast travel or magically "beam" yourself around, making distance important, and providing a sense of awe about the scope of the galaxy.

Seconded.
It just needs more depth in gameplay and some feature design. It's all kind of a placeholder in that.

The fight model, the ships, the structure of the galaxy, the sense of scale.
Basically this.

The game design is kind of "meh", there's no two ways about it.

But.

The ships are a joy to fly, the sound design is awesome, the HUD is extremely well designed as well (wish we could change colors "properly" though [knocked out]), and they nailed this "new car smell" feeling when trying new ships.

Dogfighting is also extremely pleasant, even if some of the game design flaws are meddling with said pleasure (combat balance is just all over the place [noob]).

Deep exploration mechanics

Phanter Clipper

Passenger missions which do not look anything like simple cargo

POIs completely interesting.

Great stuff to do with your own ship in planets surfaces without the mario kart.

Planets and stations procedurally created and completely different from each other.

NPCs persistents

NPCs audio chats(communications)

In no particular order;

The flight model
The model design
Stellar Forge (how it is deployed blows my mind)
The sound
The feel (feels like I imagined it would 20 years ago)
The engine in which to build a long lasting franchise (any many other products)
The mystery
The companion stories and engagement with 3rd parties
The community engagement
The CHALLENGE (accepted)

Most of the complaints and critics are about missing content which is related with depth.
Waiting those things can become depressing so negative posts emerges. Common in KS games with ongoing development and lot of promised things in KS.
Many things are right and many are wrong depend from person to person.
I think elite has beautiful sceleton for space sim, galaxy size and nice graphics, even FM is good!
Happy?

Short list of things that stands out for me - Sound, flight model, ship/cockpit design, controls, you can actually feel how big celestial bodies are.
