Just got a Nvidia 3D Vision Monitor. Help.

Hello,

i just got a Nivida 3D Vision 2 ready monitor with galles and integrated sensor. I just dont know how to enable 3D in Elite Dangerous. I enabled 3D in the Nvidia control Panel and can play other games in 3D if i press CTRL + T to enable 3D. In Elite it does not work and nothing happends... I even downloaded the Helix Mod but if i press Play 3D the Elite launcher gets unresponsive and crashes. Does anyone know a workaround or can tell me what i have to do to play Elite in 3D?

WIth respect to Kingston@#. he's wrong. The menu setting doesnt work with 3D.

Nephilim has been updating it - his version might be newer than whats on the Helix site.

S3D is far from awful if it is set up properly and the game supports it.

In fact, I think 3D Vision when working properly is fricken awesome. VR > 3D > 2D

Such a shame 3D movies as well as nVidias frankly bizarre handling of their superb HW killed the 3D gaming.

Got it working by enabling fullscreen in elite. (had borderless before). But the ghosting is so obvious and awful. it ruins my Hud completely (Python) I cant see the amount of heatsinks for example on the left side because its disorted. I played on a Vive the other day and there where no artifacts. VR also uses 2 indipendent pictures for each eye. Cant FD not use this technique just without the headtracking for 3D users? Also enable interlaced 3D for all the poor passive 3D players.

i tried the fix and it also worked. but really? The ghosting. it is so awful. my Favourite game and i cant play it nicely in 3D... pls FD fix it somehow.

When I was playing 3D Vision, I lowered the contrast. The monitor also needs time to warm up, yeah seriously! About 20 mins
You could also try changing the HUD colours to something paler; as well as reducing the HUD brightness in the 'function' panel?

Defo, nVidia 3D Vision, on a 3D Vision compatible monitor using nVidia 3D Vision glasses and emitter? nVidia's 3DTV Play is not the same as nVidia's 3D Vision.
I have been playing ED for about 18 months and ED has never supported nVidia 3D Vision, though it does support 3DTV including nVidia's but 3DTV is no where near as good as 3D Vision. 24hz @ 1080p as opposed to 60 for one thing.

jea true. I had to google like 20 minutes until i had a clue how to even enable it lmao.

@andysonofbob the ghosting is mostly vissible on the edges of the cockpit windows everything near it is disorted.

I got a plasma telly.
It's got fast response time.

But I have zero idea ho to turn it into a 3D experience.

I figure there must be some way to sync some active glasses even if they're wired, but there seems to be nothing in the space of uh 3D off the graphics card and hope the monitor can keep up.

It's like if the telly isn't built specifically for it you can't even try.
The guy with the soldering iron inside me tells me I can do this.
The other guy who can barely write a cmd script knows I won't make it work.
It would be cheaper to throw money at the problem until it solves.
