Meta-Game = Benign Universe Full of Billionaire Anaconda Owners

You can base your fun on how you play the game rather than how other people play the game without having to play in a vaccum.

Do you spend all your time landed on planets?

Edit: you mustn't play at all... because we can't land on planets with an atmosphere!

OK the use of the word vacuum was misguided here, s'all I'm saying.

Sorry, but it does matter, as the game is pvp and meta....

And the more money you have the more rebuys you have...

That is why it is so easy to make money, everything is basic and why this game had so much potential is now a huge pile of horse dung...

It's a bit of a wild assumption. For a start, though, I REFUSE to go anywhere near engineers. I find the gambling and random thing just too much to stomach. It's why I don't play path of exile, that crafting mechanic destroyed, no obliterated the game for me. It's a super game, I want to love it, but that RNG stuff kills it all. Engineers likewise. Therefore, I could put my own cutter in the meat grinder any time I wanted to, if I wanted to; and at that, to what end? I will feed someone with an engineered FDL an all they can eat Cutter buffet, they'll get bored of feasting on it. So how, then, does having 692 rebuys help in any way shape or form? I suck at combat, always have, always will, and not taking part in engineers just amplifies that. I play ED for the space, the galaxy, I love exploration, I love the deep darkness. Guess what ship I use for that? Aye, you guessed: my little ASP explorer. Barely scraping 10m in value. Billions of credits later, i'm flying an ASP explorer.

The truth is, it's easy to make a minor steady income if you do things 'legitimately', regardless of what profession you choose.. especially trading in a cutter, but then even one can argue that trading isn't a big money spinner... Or.... if you like controversy, like I chose to surf the waves of opportunity. Things do come up and you can milk it and net several billion before something is "fixed(tm)". I cannot play ED anywhere near the amount of time others do. I'm as casual as it gets. There are hundreds of more influential commanders out there, even guys posting in this thread, probably, that are way more influential than I am. Which makes me, as I said before: insignificant. Regardless of the credit pool... and that's even assuming I do play in OPEN, which is seldom the case unless i'm in my non-engineered iEagle to role play fodder.

Vorxian = insignificant by every standard.

1. That's assuming CR donations come up on the mission board, and in the time spent queuing up 20 of these could be used by anyone else to run 20+ other missions, so this really isn't a factor.

2. If you touch fire and find out it's hot, how many more times to do need to check and see if it's still hot? Clearly if you're beaten by someone, you'd have a good idea of how much of a chance you have of beating them (remember, you lost the first time, so you're starting at or near zero...) Common sense has never killed anyone, in fact, Common Sense saves lives, and credits.

3. They could, but to the best of my knowledge, they have not done so to date. I don't see this as being likely to change. And given how long it typically takes for them to introduce anything new, just about anyone has plenty of time to earn the credits to buy and A-grade outfit anything new that gets introduced. Straw grasped, but missed.

Click-click-boom.

Next?

1. mode swapping could get you the donations faster than they could not mode swapping.
2. you win 1 they win 1 repeat. You are not putting your hand in the fire so to speak if its always a draw you are just playing again.
3. They dont just pull the prices out of a hat when they introduce the new ships. Oh wait it is Fdev maybe they do :)

good try but not even close m8. No click click boom sorry !

Rumbled!

It's currently nearer 34.6b - 50b was a bit of an exaggeration

Just out of curiosity whats your Time spent ingame on the stats page ?

No one wants the milder curries taken of the menu. The majority of NPCs will always be of lower rank, and thus be 'farmable content'. What we have now is the demand for only mild curries, that are named 'super hot'.

Exactly.

The problem isn't that people want to be able to build an Anaconda that can invincibly turret-farm Low Intensity Conflict Zones and RES's, it's that they want to be able to invincibly turret-farm High Intensity CZ's, HazRES's, Compromised Nav Beacons, and threat 4 Signal Sources.

What does one need to invincibly turret-farm High Intensity CZ's, HazRES's, Compromised Nav Beacons, and threat 4 Signal Sources?

I tried myself to do this, and came away with a bruised ego...

(assuming I already have an 'A' grade cutter, with all the go faster stripes)

About 20K MJ effective shielding (*using 4 pips in shield) will do the trick.

Just pop an SCB now and then.

With a good NPC you can even use fixed / gimbaled : hop in the SLF, move away and let the computer do it.

It's beyond silly that it even possible to do this, but hey, I'm not coding this game ;)

I'm not the best person to ask that of, because I don't even try to do it. I farm in them in moderately shielded ships with fixed and gimbals. :)

If you want 100% safe and 0% effort, I think you need to be in a pair with healing lasers.

Looking for the Dangerous in Elite Dangerous?

So what is the biggest threat in our galaxy?

Is it being AFK after a jump and crashing into a star or running out of fuel?

If a horde of Thargoids was released on our galaxy today, they'd be wiped out with impugnity because of the silly shield boosts situation.

And economically things aren't making much sense either. It is possible to get an Anaconda from scratch in just days or weeks.

The balance of the game on so many levels feels totally out of whack and needs a major re-adjustment. Unfortunately I don't see much in 2.3 that addresses these flaws.

And this imbalance in the game will have an impact on future gameplay development unless Frontier make some significant changes.

This shouldn't matter considering the merit of the game is to blaze one's own trail - are some people expected to blaze at the same pace as others?

First, you need a Conda or Corvette. Cutter lacks the energy in WEP needed for it. And you most certainly do not need "go faster".

Second, you need SLF - preferably GU-97 with fixed plasmas and Elite pilot. It's basically like having another C4 hardpoint that can fly around and shoot things without any penalties to your ship.

Third, you may need some long-range lasers, preferably bursts. These are great against shields and for supporting your fighter. Have some kinetic weapons (preferably MCs) that would work against enemy hull. That's where Vette excels - it can have two C4 MCs.

Fourth, decide on your shields. I prefer "hybrid" prismatics (reinforced shield + 2 thermal boosters + 2 resistant boosters + 3-4 heavy boosters) which give me 4.5-5 Gj of shields (either 8 boosters for CZ or 7 boosters + KWS for RES) with good resists (45% thermal, others are well above 50%). Of course, these should be used only at 4-0-2 pips. Do not worry about the speed - you've got long-range guns and fighter.

And probably the most important thing: never, ever think about it as of some "combat challenge". Engineering maybe, but not combat. Aim to make combat as easy as it can get. Never listen to "pro-challenge" people who offer silly things like railguns, plasmas and such. These probably would make combat more challenging, and you don't want that.

Yeah, but the people who love to blaze their own trail and take it slow apparently get real, real mad when someone else gets more money than them.

I know right its as if they are annoyed at Fdevs promotion of exploiting as a valid way of playing the game.
Dont they realise exploiting is part of the game ! fools.
