My money is on Toy Story as the fourth film is due for release in 2019 which gives FDev enough time to develop something. It also fits with a few of their previous games pre-E: D that don't involve rollercoasters like Dog's Life, Wallace and Gromit, etc..

Both compatible with the work on the outsider (and future space legs).

Of course if it's blade runner it have to be more action style, since, as said, if they will compete on the rpg/story telling side, CD red project will wipe everybody else in the genre (and certainly FD)

My feeling is that season 2 was delayed to allow Frontier time to create "season 3" as a fully fledged expansion.

This fully fledged updated (season 3) will be released around September-December.

That's what I reckon anyway.

There's been some speculation that the season model will be ousted for something else...I agree with you, but think 2.4 (being the surprise) will be the fully fledged expansion, and they may just change the naming convention somehow so the name "2.4" is irrelevant...it's just the next version of Elite.

I was hoping for earlier, but hey, I now think that season/expansion 3 won't be out till christmas. Hopefully season/expansion 3 will be more feature complete then season 2.

I think it will have to be more feature complete. As someone said earlier they got burned by reviews and don't think they will dare to risk another bad set of them.

2.4 can't be a fully fledged expansion as we have paid for it already with horizons, they cannot change that.

Surely they would want to charge us for fully fledged expansions? I expect seasons will go and 3.0 will be s stand alone expansion, maybe slightly cheaper then season 2, and then have standalone DLC's which can be easily gated for people that want them.

Things such as SLF and Multicrew could easily be gated as DLC and won't effect the main game in the slightest.

Agreed. Probably for the best. Now what will expansion 3 be though. Expansion has to be an expansion of playable area, so in theory it needs to be more planets or EVA/Space legs. My bet is more planets, maybe atmospheric planets with zero or very basic life (brain trees) like we have on the non-atmospheric planets at the moment.

I agree. I don't believe that there will be a sequel anytime soon as there doesn't need to be one.

2.5, 2.6 etc could possibly drop when a DLC goes live, but it will be to update stuff that is already there. No new features. Like the base game during horizons has been updated as well, but with mainly updates to the features already there.

My expecation is for 2.4 to be nothing more than just more scripted alien encounters and a few QOL changes. If 2.4 is anything more than this I'll be very very surprised

In the original horizons outlining 2.4 was planned to be the last update of the horizons season. Of course everything could have been changed.
We are just in the dark about that. Well, about everything (and that doesn't sustain my will to buy anything else from the cash shop).
