now I am not saying it is acceptable
but
as its premium beta we all threw in £100 to test
how many mommys and daddys will do that for precious
and its a big world we live in
do we realy have to pander to the misguided moral few

lets be honest I at the age of 6 knew all the taboo words

and didn't you?

I didn't do a poll deliberately I just anticipate the flak from the meercats
holyer than thou attitude

It's the war against boys and testosterone, and the incorrect assumption that there is a basic human right to not to be offended. I hang my head in shame whenever I see sternly worded posts by mods about "think of the children" and how swear words will pollute their minds, just before they turn on the TV and see ten grisly murders in great detail on NCIS or Hannibal.

And IBTL.

I love swearing, in both English and Italian, but I only do it with some people and some situations. I have no idea about posters ages and sensibilities so I understand and agree with the decision to filter swear words out on the forum.
I'm as far from holy as you can get. :D

Swearing has its place. I can understand it can get out of hand, but given that the average age here (at the moment) is well above 30, I doubt we'd really have an issue with it.

Not trying to argue bringing it back (was it ever here?), I know that ship has sailed and mods don't like to admit being, well.... Anyway.

While we may or may not have a problem with it, the rules that we signed up to have a no swearing (or masked swearing) section. The minimum age for registering as a member of the forums is thirteen. Frontier produce games for all ages and there can be no guest browsing minimum age limit for obvious reasons. Their forums, their rules - don't like it, don't post.

The BSG one was quite good, it was clear exactly what "frack" meant.
However, the reality is that this forum is run by FD, their call.

I swear like a sailor. Have since i was a kid (corrupt youth :D) but, personally there's a few reasons I can see this rule being in place that has nothing to do with kids.

1. Swearing, for the most part, usually is the beginning or part of a rant or insult that would be better suited with an explanation as opposed to a cuss word/words. Example: The radar F-ing sucks, is great and all but, you'd be better served by telling us why or how it F-ing sucks and how to fix it.

2. Lot's of swear/naughty words are sexual in nature, something I, as an adult, don't care to hear about unless it's from or too my Mrs. Which won't be posted on here and is between us.

3. Swearing, while universal and convenient, is a base form of communication usually used to express an emotion, so if you're that emotional and need to swear, use it as a tool to alert yourself you probably should calm down before posting.

4. It's Frontiers forum, hence their rules.

Again, IRL I cuss all the time but, have no problem not doing it here. My vocabulary is sufficient enough to more than express myself without using swear words.

Not trying to be rude or insult anyone but, come on, do we really need to swear?

Not really unusual to have a devs forum that bans swearing, not really a problem for me. Can't see what we would gain by it being allowed.

Its about setting a standard. I appreciate the no tolerance policy Frontier have on this area. Generally I think it only really hurts peoples arguments or views if they swear. Not to say that strong language doesn't have its place but the over use of it demonstrates a lack of articulation.

In any aspect of life I can convey my point much better and be much more brutally without using four letter words. ;)
