Traffic report for March 3303 from EDSM

Watching this update I've realised that there seem to be a couple of other people out near where I am at present.

And that made me think of something that could be pretty awesome: notifications when another Commander enters an area near you (where "near" can be defined by each Cmdr). That way we could find new friends and arrange impromptu deep-space meetups.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but these stats only involve CMDRs that have an EDSM login and update via EDMC or similar?

Imagine if it actually was every single player!

We added a friend system where you can follow your friends on the 2d map, along with your position, comments (bookmarks) and stored ships.
Notifications sounds like a good idea to add to the dashboard. I will see how I can work on that.

Yes only our users, but they are more and more every day ;)

Is there any info on how many players are shown in there?

We have around 20k users registered. Some are on break.

Thanks for considering the friends-notification, but my point really is about making -new- friends. So if someone I didn't even know existed enters my "area" (say a 500LY bubble around me) I'd get a notification and we could try to meet up or something.

Guess it'd be a bit unworkable in the busier sections of the Map though.
