sorry got the title wrong, should have been Testing the Titan Xp
So my Titan Xp arrived today, which I was super surprised about because I only ordered it has soon as it appeared on the Nvidia website yesterday.
So I have only had a few hours to try some games. I checked a few non-VR games first. Best way to describe the performance is by comparing against what I had, which was two overclocked 1080s in SLI. I generally found that performance for games that were very well optimized for SLI, one Titan Xp cam match them if not slightly exceed the performance of 1080s in SLI. In the case where SLI is poorly optimized, e.g. Watchdogs, Ghost recon Wildlands (ubisoft games!) the Xp really pulls out a lead. So things look good. Now without a 1080ti I can't say how much better the Xp is over that and the increase in performance, so can't say yet if its value for money.
Oh I should say, I've very happy now I'm not using SLI, everything is so smooth
Turing to VR, I have only tried ED, which makes sense as this is an ED forum.
So as yet I haven't tried to reach 90FPS, I'm just been seeing how far I can go with the SS and HMD Quality before things get messy. But using VR ULTRA as a base I have finally settled on setting SS 1.25 and using the Occlus debug tool set at 1.6. With this setting ASW kicks in, in stations and on the surface, but it never dips below 45FPS, things are very smooth. Going to 1.75 in the ED option settings seems to push things over the edge.
I think I could probably turn up other settings. Unfortunately I'm away the whole weekend, so that's as far as I go until next week
I should add, using the setting above ED does look blimin spectacular in VR
Edit tried project cars and is very slick at 1.7 and 4dx. Looks fantastic.
