Transport three ships out to Colonia? Oh, go on then :)

I'm really hoping that Frontier push ahead with proper expansion in Colonia over the next year, as this morning I decided to buy and fully engineer a Cobra Mk IV to transport out there.

It will join my new Colonia fleet of a Federal Corvette, and a Python :D

I'm just waiting now for 2.3 to drop so I can equip my full fleet with sensor upgrades, then the flight out will begin!

2.3 will probably be the patch that'll see me go to Colonia. Got my FdL all ready to go! Will take my time, and when I arrive I hope to make it to elite in exploration. :)

Might be a dumb question but whats happening with sensors? :)

Changes in angle/sensitivity at the expense of increase in weight ! So not brilliant news.

But the tradeoff in weight is not as significant for reducing jump range compared with the gains of increasing it with mods to thrusters and FSD.

So how much would it take to say import a ship from the bubble to Colonia? Say a Python if I use my ASP exploration ship to go to Colonia?

If it is your first big trip, don't forget to break it into smaller segments (going through POIs as waypoints). It will make the journey far more epic than buckyballing in a straight line. And if you're taking an FDL, I would recommend an extra fuel tank, to minimize the risk of running out of fuel due to distraction.

For 2.3 I'm heading there in a new Dolphin, to add to the Annie and T-6 already there. I'll race you guys. First one there is a fake-explorer. Last one there wins.

I must admit I'm slightly stacking the odds in my favour since I'll be checking out the new explorer features, and focusing on landable moons this time instead of the colour challenged planets I usually visit, and I'm not sure whether either of those will keep me playing to get all the way there.

May the biggest slacker win!

edit: and listen to Askavir. Askavir is wise.

The best explorer is the one that sets out and is never seen or heard of, again.
Only fifty years later a small party of adventurers finds a part-burnt, part-frozen, part-eaten diary of an epic journey...

General rule of thumb is it costs the same value of your ship plus about 10%ish, which is why I'll only be transporting my small ship fleet over there when I get round to emigrating at some point in the near future. (Once the bubble get wiped out BSG style ;) )

Around 1.5x it's total value.

*EDIT*

Just had a look.
My Python has a sale value of Cr150m which'd mean it's actually cost me around Cr165m
When I was at Colonia, a few days ago, I was quoted Cr220m to have it transferred.
Which would make the transfer cost around 1.3x the value. [up]

I'm aiting for decent shipyard stock out here in Colonia so I don't have to ship transfer..... hopefully 2.3 dropping may provide this with an upgrade to the Eol Prou Sector.

Thanks, and will definitely do the scenic tour. Buckyballing isn't for me, thats for sure. As for an extra tank, no slots for it (scoop, ADS, DSS, SRV and shield), and its very weight-sensitive. Its around 26LY now, including full weaponry but every ton counts a lot. :(

Would be great if they would implement some of the new Mega Ships to fly between colonia and the "old" bubble. That way you could land on them and leave them close to colonia.

I was thinking about getting there but i would probably get damm bored before i would arrive. Besides the fact that i am still modding my Phyton and working on getting a Cutter, which will need quite some more time.

I have a low jump range FDL

It's far more expensive to move around than any other ship (I have an anaconda and a python too, both with G5 FSD mod)

I reckon price is calculated by jump range and the amount of jumps to get there

Are there many 'vettes permanently out there?

Yeah, I'm not sure a simple "cost x 1.3" is accurate.

My Cutter is built for PvE cargo hauling so it's "only" worth (I just checked) Cr352m.
That would have cost me over Cr500m to transfer to Colonia. Around 1.5x it's value.

Dunno if the transfer cost factors in stuff like the size of the ship or the jump capability too.

I'm anticipating that it'll cost me around 1.3 billion credits to transfer my three ships. Expensive but I'm only doing it once... hopefully :)

The total cost of the ship at full purchase value, not the sell price. Plus 10%.

My corvette would have been over a billion to transfer, just fyi.
