Here is the official Frontier post found on the ED Launcher page under SUPPORT NOTICE > 2.2 MISSION REMOVAL.
I figure when the flood of posts come in per mission losses just send them here and save a lot of typing for everyone. :)

Question: What will happen to my missions when the game is updated?

Updated: Wednesday 5th April 2017

Any current missions will be wiped from all Commanders on the week of April 10th - April 16th (UTC+0) when the servers are upgraded to Update 2.3 - The Commanders.

This will affect any current missions that have not been handed in or abandoned, regardless of whether these are active, completed, or failed. In addition to this, long range passenger missions have been given a temporarily shortened time limit and should be accepted with caution.

Any missions removed will not suffer from the regular penalties such as reputation loss, fines, or bounties. However, in order to claim your rewards, you must both complete and hand-in these missions at least 30 minutes before downtime begins. Downtime will be announced via the in-game system notices and on the forums at least one hour in advance. Exploration data obtained whilst completing any mission will be unaffected by this update.

Note: Frontier Support will not be able to assist with any missions that are lost as a result of the update to Update 2.3 - The Commanders.

Later today? Later today? Is this wishful thinking or has there been an announcement? I was expecting the update to go live late on Friday so that the Devs could go home for the weekend while we suffered from some unforeseen bug that makes Elite unplayable until they come back to work on Monday to fix it.

Given that it's Easter and the dev's are likely to be out Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon, I'd expect the plan is sooner rather than later.

The message displayed on the game's main menu specifically says that missions will be erased today.

I'm hoping CG payouts aren't wiped. I have almost Cr50m riding on it.

If (and that's a big if...) the software is ready, it would be reasonable to
- announce today (so the truckers can set up their beta bash)
- go live on Wednesday latest
- which leaves Thursday for any emergency fixes or a rollback in case things go dramatically wrong

Since Fri, Sun, Mon are some pretty important holidays at least in all christian oriented countries.

However, FD being a typical software company, I wouldn't expect for anything to go to plan.

Of course, a similar plan would be to go live on Thursday and, if the biowaste hits the atmospheric circulator, keep Saturday as emergency fix/rollback day...

A good point on Community Goal missions...but they are missions. I would hope for the best but expect the worst.

It's "long range" missions that will be wiped today, including the Ram Tah mission. There was a new Community Goal on Thursday; it runs until Thursday, and (barring accidents) will not be wiped.

The point about the 10th is that it's the earliest possible day for 2.3 going live. Frontier Developments is showing a lot of courage in deciding to release in the week leading up to Easter, but the day of the release will presumably depend on all the fixes for severity one bugs passing QA testing. It may well be as late as the 16th, and it may take a whole day to complete the upgrade, so be prepared to take some time away from the game.

As other folks have said, there ARE currently CGs ongoing, including one to Colonia.
It would kinda suck if CG related stuff was included.
Especially for the 4 people who've contributed to the current Colonia CG. :D

Is there any such thing as a "long range mission"?

I think the intention was to make people think twice about taking on any missions that they might not be able to complete by today, such as tourist missions to Sag A or whatever.
The message is worded a bit ambiguously though.

Community Goals are, have always been, unaffected by updates and patches. They will remain in your transaction tab as before.

Tuesday....come back Tuesday....Monday is a UK bank holiday (as is this Friday)

Well I guess I won't be doing missions today and until the next update comes out...hopefully...today? :cool:

they are doinng a live stream on thursday in open showing off the new features.

it will be today, tomorrow or weds all being well.

my money is on tomorrow but we shall see :)
i made sure all my missions were done and dusted yesterday however just in case :)

And all four of them only took 10 Tons! I mean even if they refuse to wing up with another commander they could do the buy 10 tons, fly 8k away from the station, wait 10 mins, dump the rares, go back to the station and get 10 more fly out and collect the dumped ones with a limpet.

Remember cargo has a time limit in space kids and no more than 20 in space at any one time that near a station.
