Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster Warthog Replacement Parts Cost Bigly

Working my way up the combat ranks has unfortunately put some strain on my beautiful TM Warthog flight stick.

The company will sell me a new base for 216 Euros ($300.00 Canadian), or I can buy a brand new flight stick for $421.00 Canadian on Amazon.ca. Doing the math says there's no point with just a replacement part, and I should just bite the bullet and buy an entire new flight stick.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used flight stick?

What did you do to it? I treat mine like a cheap Lavian <woman of the night> and still no issues after five years.

Err what I mean to say is that treating service providers badly is not a gentlemanly thing to do.

On topic - I've seen some strip downs of the Warthog and it seems like it's as nicely designed internally with a view to being repairable.

Have you given it a bit of gentle love with a screwdriver?

did the hat switches stop working?

if they did and you are handy the lead going up to the ps2 connector at the base probably are broken, you can open it up and re solder them.

When you say they'll sell you a new "base" am I right in assuming you mean the stick, not the throttle? We're talking about the entire stick for those costs, right?

And if that's not what happened what did? I've had mine for 2 years of extremely heavy use. In that time I have over 800 hours of Elite and at least that much again from several others (Descent, War Thunder, etc. etc.) At times my stick will get a little loose when sitting at center, if you look on the side of the stick you'll see a few inset hole with Allen headed screws in them. The bottom two get loose on mine from time to time, I tighten them back down and blamo, tight as ever.

My problem is I have a bad hat switch on my throttle, specifically the "Coolie" switch/hat. I used it for horizontal thrusters so overuse finally broke it so it's always registering a DOWN input. Due to muscle memory I re-mapped my thrusters to the mouse/nipple just next to it (which sorta sucks for input). As that's a pretty important key that's hard to work around I'd really like to replace it.

I'm very handy and have all the tools I need to repair it, I assume it's well out of warranty so they aren't going to fix it anyway. I'd love to just order the part from someone but I'm guessing that's not an easy thing.

Ideas gents?

Warthog with it's plastic gimbal internals isn't guite top quality.....you should go for vkb gunfighter base

You should basically be able to get all the switches used in it. But a well stocked retailer. I can not imagine that they would uses custom made switches in their products. Dissamble it and see if you can find numbers, markings on defective parts. Go hunting,

I have put thousands of hours on my Warthog, since it's release. Sure it has its share of problems, the infamous rubber O-ring, and switches worn out. But they are all easily replaceable. Of course, parts from TM are quite expensive, and they charge an arm and a leg. But nothing that requires a complete replacement of the stick base.

You might want to narrow down what the problem is. Pics?

He has a lot more than just o-rings and was easy and responsive to deal with.
Shipping is high to the states, but a replacement Warthog base is now exhoribatant.
You-tube videos as a guide and Nyogel 767A restored smooth functioning to stick.
I got about 1800 hrs on each of my 2 orig Warthog bases, so plan accordingly.
