Ship name censored - turn off

Nah, then you'll get some parent complaining that their 13 year old turned off the swear filter and turned into Alf Garnett.

Then parents should look what their childrens are doing. Especially what game and how they are playing it.

It's a PEGI7 game (in the UK, anyway) - and Frontier have chosen to censor ship names.

But i am 36 and i would like to turn it off for myself. I can turn it on for my daughter.

It may be simple password protected parental control for parents who are not able to control their childrens or do not trust them.

However, in a game with killing, slavery, violence, human-trading - i think a stupid name is not a big deal :)

Here in America, we beat PEGI with baseball bats.

Down with censorship.
Down with whining parental groups who shouldn't or often do not, have children in the first place minding everyone else's business but their own.
Down with whining in general. Grow a pair and act like a human being.

Indeed. It goes beyond playing the game though - any names would be visible on videos of the game.

My question is how? How do they even enforce this. Are player names put through the same screenings? I think this is all an attempt at scare crowing. My dear friend Commander ****** **** certainly thinks so. Guess I will see later if whatever atrocities he decides to commit with his ship names get through or not.

Ironically, they censor words on this forum, and in game, that are freely used on kids shows here(Australia.)

True story from Canada this past week:

A Nova Scotia man whose personalized licence plate was pulled because of one complaint about what it said — "Grabher" — says he is overwhelmed by the support he's received from around the world.

"This is just blowing my mind," Lorne Grabher said. "You wouldn't believe the amount of phone calls and emails I have received not just [from] here but everywhere — the United States, Austria, three people from Moscow on my Facebook page, the U.K. It's just totally unbelievable."

Hello,

How to turn off censorship in shipnames? I would like to see uncensored shipnames on other players ships.
I can deal with it can be offensive and swearing.

If it is not possible, maybe it will be good to give an option to 'turn off censor' for player who decide to see everything/

Hear, hear!

Censoring is for the really crazy people. [yesnod]

They could always make it a parental lock with a pin number.

That doesn't actually work but at least it puts the onus back on the parents
