thanks FD, DB.. thanks a lot

The implication of what DB said was that each point update would be paid for individually, rather than per season. So instead of say, $25 at once, for 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4, you would pay $5 for 2.0, $5 for 2.1, $5 for 2.2, etc (or varying prices based on content, with the overall math working out to be the same).

A lifetime pass isn't pointless in the least. You're really grasping at straws in the complaining here.

Is this true? The season pass makes more sense because everyone is either on the same page or not (Horizons... not Horizons) But with these micropatches suggested above would mean the player base is separated by many different game iterations.

Unless Fdev are thinking of pricing out game functions like Microtransations.

Space leggs..... $6.99
Exploration play pack..... $7.99
Thargoid story arch.....$10.99

This and a subscription model makes my skin crawl.

It doesn't make to much sense to sell each feature separately. Imagine the potential complications of so many different game configurations, I hope DB means something else.

Just guessing, but I think that it's more likely to be complete seasons sold as one whole package... as in Horizons 2.0 to 2.4 just being sold as Horizons, all in one go.

That's just my understanding of what was said, there's no truth to it, just my assumptions based on the wording.

That would be a much better way to do it, yeah. I hope it doesn't mean we'll have to wait for the full season to be completed behind-the-scenes before we get it though. The original concept was fantastic, but some gamers are just... Well, there's no nice way I can complete that thought really. :D

It's all good, i think Steve just got a little fixated on the word 'season,' as if removing that word removes everything with that word in it. Seasons in games are just a newish way to announce game patches, update and charge again, those patches will still be there in numeric form and released more frequently

I find it staggering that they are thinking of changing the season expansions because some people whine and moan about spending £40 to get a years worth of updates.
..the same people who toss away £80 a week on candy crush and other freemium trash on their phone. ugh.. crazy.

if it's not broke, don't fix it ;)

I personally believe that the reason things took so long with this season is that FD knew they were moving away from the "Seasons" model and into something like a yearly release and are already working on the next one (in part)

So when 2.4 comes out we have to wait until something like Q4 next year (just in time for Christmas) for the next big add on .. but as I said, that's just my guess.

The problem is that they also said that progress is difficult to predict when working on larger features. With a season system you HAVE to deliver feature X first if you promised it would be in the Season. Its not very flexible. Suppose something happens during a feature (say, multi-crew) while another feature (say, gas giant scooping) goes beyond expectation, it would be easier to ship gas giants first and deal with multicrew later. For example. The current system simply dont allow for it.

They already 'confessed' having two seperate teams working on non-Season2 stuff during spring 2016. I'm expecting something will come from this december this year.

FD have made signals (I think Sandro said something very briefly) that they want to move away from the season expansion idea that we have with 2. We didn't know what that meant, and still don't for sure, but it is looking increasingly likely they will issue 3.0 in one lump and let everyone enjoy it until they come up with 4.0. So, effectively, there won't be 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 etc. It just gets called 3.

It makes sense that this is why Horizons has extended over two years, to give them time to develop 3 from start to finish.

But however they do it, LEP is LEP for the lifetime of the whole development.

That's a complaint I can get behind now. :)

FD seem to try to pay close attention to their users, but sometimes I worry that they seem to be paying attention to the... least... well-thought-through ones. To try to be delicate about it.

Sigh another one using logic and fact.

Don't you know its established forum rule that Frontier as a developer can only work on one thing at a time.

Lol, yeah.

"Ugh, I cant stand other people refuse to pay a premium for what I've gotten for far less. Bunch of cheap skates! And who cares what works better for FD, if it works for me it aint broken!"
