Ship Name Profanity Filter is Too Strict?

My IMO probably not-obscenely named Imperial Cutter, the CNV EMBASSY, appears on other player's UIs as the "CNVEMB***Y"..

I guess it thought I was referring to bottoms, and not to diplomatic things. Sigh.

Any chance FD of toning down the swear filter there? It's also truncating the space between "CNV" and "Embassy" parts of the name, which is annoying.

Cheers

Just LOL

Update 2:

I got a response to my Support Ticket, and "" is apparently not on the profanity list, so this shouldn't be happening. It's been passed up to the devs. I guess if anyone else has this issue you should log a support ticket too :)

So "Shorpe Lady" is a no go as well?

*I guess it is, because I mentioned a Yorkshire town called S.c.u.n.t.h.o.r.p.e. :D

And a town in Canada is named after a certain marital aid:

Edit: OMG, the link to the wikipedia.org article on the town is blocked by this site because it contains "the bad word".

That's ridiculous. It almost looks as though they've just taken the forum filter and run the ship name routines through it without any thought for the consequences. No silent-running stealth builds called the Puѕsyfoot then, I guess?

(And yes, I used unicode for that first 's' so people could actually see the damned word. If that still counts as "swear" filter evasion, I will gladly take an infraction in order to highlight the clumsiness and ignorance of this system).

This is absurd. How about 'sensitive' people can enable 'petty-mode' and just have it disabled for them?

See, FD, when sleutelbos complains, you know it's bad.

By the way, how I permute your name would never make it past the filters. I've always wanted to tell you that, now is the perfect time :)
