General / Off-Topic One of the greatest mysteries finally solved :)

At least that study makes some sort of sense. This one defies all rational thought.

Here is a sneak preview if you don't want to click the actual PDF.

Lol, yeah, read that one. A classic. :D

So they finally proved what everyone already knew anyways.
You moving around causes tremors and thus slowly unties the Shoelaces if they are not well enough tied together to resist these tremors.

They should have hired an Mechanic.
Because for Decades the same thing also is loosening bolts on Cars and other Machines thus Mechanics knowing about it for over a Hundred years now lol.

Noone knew that. You dont understand the very concept of science, do you? You know something when you test it and analyse data. You dont just retrospectively go 'guess its kinda like cars or sumtin'. If you read it you'd also see its actually NOT like bolts, which is the interesting bit. For as much this topic can be interesting. :)

Sorry. Meant Screws not Bolts lol.
Need to Learn English xD

Not entirely right.
See the thing is. Laws of Physics usually dont just apply to a single case.

For Ages we know that when something impacts it causes tremors.
For Ages we know that these tremors cause a movement and thus can affect things which are kept together by cohesion and friction forces like screws etc.

Shoelaces work by the same Principle. You tighten them and the cohesion which keeps em together is the friction caused by moving away from each other.
Of course however if you keep applying force to this constantly. (What we are doing by walking) they will come lose at some point.

If you learned to be a Mechanic you also learn that there is certain limits to these forces.
Because smaller tremors will cause movement but wont be able to break the cohesion. Meaning the thing affected will move back and not get loosened over time.
While forces strong enough to shift the new position by just a micrometer will if often enough applied at some point cause them to go apart.

So we knew this to be the case beforehand.
Of course proving it to be True is still importand.
But I dont think it needs to be made such a big new Story. :p

Its not like we found out something new :)
We merely proved something we knew :)

Importand difference.

And its importand to know this difference.
Because otherwise even now you would not actually know if this goes for your Shoelaces.
After all they only tested it on a certain Shoelace :p
So unless you believe such Laws to also Apply to other cases you would still not know if your Shoelaces come loose as well ;)

All proof of course that the earth is in fact flat. None of this stuff happens in a round earth scenario, its impossible.[wacky][wacky]

Again, that is not what is happening. 'repeated downward force' did NOT result in the untying of the laces, nor repeated 'wobbling' motions. There is a specific motion involved in the untying of shoelaces. :p

Reading the title I thought it was something about women :)
You can solve all the mysteries you like about woman and it will make no difference what so ever; because give it 24 hours after they discover you know something about them and they will change it.

You joke but as an educator of small children I can assure this is no laughing matter! My back is most thankful for the research conducted by the brave men and women of this study!
