Ahh good question...because I didn't really figure anything else so far and thought it was a easier way to find a place related to the galaxy map... but it could be perhaps something into a system. As many I thought about the Sol system as it was stated by CMDR Shijima that phaeton is a meteor in sol system and that the path of soul are the 8 first planets that have been discovered... but if so , why the number 10 ?

But that still begs the question of why the answer should be an in-game location?
I've not seen anything from Drew that actually confirms that. It just seems to be assumed that there's a 'thing' to find when we solve the riddle.
 
Well the first cluster point to a set of stars so I assume the next step will single one out.

Though it could be a deep space object or non main star from eridanus with only one clue a pointer to one of the main star makes more sense to me. Also the river points (IMO ) to the main stars.

Hmm, so the first 3 parts of DB-IB Fi(O) T-1319 SUM (10, 7, 5, 3) would be clues to the game (Ian Bell & David Braben, the novella 'The Dark Wheel, 1984) and the last part is to tell us to look at the game's manual. Could work.

Page 25 has the headings "MANOUEVERING" & "SIGNS OF DANGER" (Not me shouting btw- I'm writing it in the case that's used in the manual)
Less than 10 chapters so 10 can't be a chapter number.
P10, Line 7, Word 5, Letter 3 = i
P10, Sentence 7, Word 5, Letter 3 = e
P10, Sentence 7, Word 5, plus 3 more words = "ELITE"
Not enough paragraphs on p10 for 7 to refer to paragraphs.
P10, 7th word of first sentence, 5th word of second sentence, 3rd word of 3rd sentence = "the HARMLESS survive"

TBH, it seems to me that we're well into the realms of their being multiple valid interpretations of the clue and we're trying to find the correct answer out of a set of valid answers. Needle in a needlestack time! Not that I'm complaining though!

"DB-IB" could be a reference to John Graham. Persons by this name appear in most of the recent Elite novels ...

The name likely comes from David John Braben and Ian Graham Bell. In Reclamation John Graham is the physician who attends to Salome just prior to her meeting the Old Woman.

Yep that makes good sense : I mean that tells me that this equation is just a twisted way of writing "Elite" . I beginn to really doubt it's a clue , rather a false trail , a way to confuse us ...
 
My bad , I fear I have mistranslated something . just read the thing again and indeed the contellation starts at Cursa near Rigel and ends at Achenar....

I find the backtracking from achenar then 10,7,5,3rd interesting . However , which stars to choose ? The constellation owns a lot of stars , we have first to figure out the exhaustive list of those present in the game . I already get 10 but the list is vast ( only the named ones , according to wikipedia , are about 91 ....[knocked out] )

I do wonder if Salomé is showing us the path. In the last trailer it mentioned 'the beacons being lit' or words to that effect. I did speculate that these systems she was flying to and vanishing at were the beacons and were drawing out this path.


i can suggest a good pub....

As a totally off topic musing...

when this thread and the Canonn thread seems to be islands of sanity floating in the forum sea, what do FD put in the water?

If whatever is in the Rift doesn't have long hair, THEN you'll see how cranky we can get :eek:


On a side note, I feel that the argument about an argument on Reddit marks a new high/low for for the forums.
