Also there is no proof for or against the belief in g-d, so both side are fanatically disillusioned (atheist and non-atheist). So that statement would be just down right nasty except that you compared Moses to Gandolf which is pretty legit even if Moses had more power temporarily granted to him
You seem to use the term atheism in a way I do not subscribe to.
I do not believe in gods like I do not believe in smurfs.
(For all you smurfist out there... I am not saying I am absolute sure smurfs do not exist. I just think it is very, very, very, very unlikely.)
As far as certain specific gods are concerned, like for example the christian god I once believed in myself... I think these are internally incoherent human fictions and can therefore not exist.
That is all I am going to say about that here.
Second, I don't think my g-d is cool with slavery in the way that it is outlined in Elite. Leviticus does review slavery laws, but it outlines that you having to pay them an allowance, keep them within the same exact living standards as yourself, provide days off, provide a paid vacation, cannot harm them or order them to conduct work that might cause them harm, along with living accommodation after internment and several other things. So it is very different from even Imperial slavery.
I am sorry to say that you have been mislead by your preachers, like I have been in my youth.
Being an ex-christian, who still owns a small theological library and more bibles than the average city library, I know exactly what you are talking about.
You are talking about Hebrew slaves, but... not all slaves were Hebrew. And that is the big trick.
The bible god has a monstrous attitude towards non-hebrew slaves. The nice form of slavery is only for those who were led from Egypt, the Hebrew man and woman.
The non-hebrews are preferably bought when they are still children and they can be used and abused like property (because they
are property!) and they can be beaten and even beaten to death with little consequence provided they don't die immediately.
This is stated explicitly in the Tanakh.
To get the complete picture of slavery as practiced in primitive biblical Israel you will have to refrain from picking and choosing, but read all the pertinent texts about this subject.
And above all: Do NOT trust your preachers. They lie. Most of them learn to lie and obfuscate when they study to become preachers. Believe me, I know.
If you want me to explain in detail with bible references etc. then just ask.
It is a not much trouble for me as I wrote a thesis about the very topic long ago.
I would have to translate parts of it to english, but that isn't too much trouble.
I get it isn't your holiday, but it is mine and I dig it. Thanks for attempting to poop on that.
The factual pooping is done by your own scriptures I am afraid.
The biblegod is a monstrous figment of the primitive stoneage human mind.
I know it sounds harsh, and I really do not want to hurt your feelings, but the christian religion kneels to a very evil, two-faced god.
I know, because that god was my god too, more than 30 years ago.
