THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

...I know there's a popular belief on here that she's some sort of cult leader with a flock of unthinking followers, but they couldn't be more wrong...

<RP>
The Independent Rift Explorers Alliance judges CoR by their actions - which do not support your statement.
We do, however, welcome any dissident CoR members who are unhappy with the direction their faction has taken under the 'leadership' of Salome to join the IREA in their investigations of the Formidine Rift.
</RP>

I do agree with you on the Council idea. It's a good idea. I'm surprised it's never been discussed or set up before to be honest.
Some kind of alliance between independent Rift explorers, maybe?

Thought that was what this forum was

To some degree, except that the goal has always been to find the secret of the rift. Whilst there has been disagreement on location, everyone has been free to follow and act on their own thoughts without really stepping on anyone else's toes. Where Salomé is involved, there are multiple possible views, and there can only be a single outcome to proceedings, as in, no do-overs if we don't get what we want first time.

I'm all for it but:

My question would be: what could such a council actually do, within the boundaries of the game? It would not have any more power to go to places or uncover anything, or change what is going on outside of the mechanics already in play. So beyond being a nice IC thing, I don't see how it would change anything.

Yeah, this is a problem.

I don't think the 29th will be about playing mega PVP hide and seek, more like leading us to a mystery, that could be that alien hive in the unknown trailer. FDev had issues with building up the story in-game through hints, making us find stuff through brute force or behind schedule, maybe this way it will be more engaging...?

If they won't make it, then the community will find it anyway. Perhaps it will make sense to check permit locks on the 29th.

Whatever it does it should be something that's interactive in game. The Rift story and Salome's adventures were always supposed to be about interactivity in game as much as possible, hence the roleplayed commander who had a presence beyond mere GalNet text.

The end game event on the 29th is the perfect opportunity for players who have followed the story to play a part in its ending and influence how it pans out. A forum Council won't make any difference. One that brings players together and gets them involved in game on April 29th could be a more worthwhile use of the time and energy, and one with a tangible goal.

Oh, you found Raxxla then? :p

Working on it :)

Maybe Salome found it and that's her secret!

Kahina is a tool to be wielded. CoR knows this and allows themselves to be a weapon in Kahina's hands in exchange for the privilege of doing the same to her. Me? I need to keep her alive long enough to achieve my own goals. Once she's revealed everything she knows about Metadrive and Sirius Corp. she can be discarded ... I really don't care what happens to her at that point. Oh ... and if she can spread some light on the Formidine Rift that would be good too. Considering how long she's been running around the galaxy with this supposed "hidden knowledge" I doubt she really knows anything more than we've already learned.

After the Federal lobotomy get her in the gimp mask then you'll both be finally happy.

I hope for at least the punchline to why'd TOW cross the rift?

The way it plays out on the Discord servers, most players won't engage because of the story but to gank each other.

This is pretty disappointing, but it is equally bad that those who care about the story (mostly PVE RPing) will be placed on a PVP playing field they can not prevail.

/RP/
As a citizen of Federation I must insist on arresting her as the only surviving member of the Loren family, which is responsible for the crimes committed on Chione. She is only some spoiled brat, who by chance obtained information about Formidine Rift and suddenly got enlightened and acting like some kind of savior of humankind. If she dies during the arrest, well, splinters are flying during the wood cutting. The mystery of Formidine Rift will be unveiled one way or another. We don't need her or the CoR.

Rumours are, that even CoR are not so consistent and some members are beginning to be doubtful about this Salome and her intentions. Also high possibility of infiltration by unknown agents exits. CoR can't trust their own members and should be watching their six if you take my meaning. I will definitely watching them with my hard points deployed.

This will be one very interesting event.

Unfortunately that's the remit that's been given. CoR are roleplayers and explorers, they rarely PVE (except when on terrorists duty :p), and PvP is something way down the list.... In fact it's not even on the list and is something the group has never been a part of. Yet on the 29th they've been asked to play a role and go up against massive organized groups who have 2 years of PVP experience behind them, and are probably all kitted out with G5 engineered ships.

Explorers and roleplayers vs CODE and SDC [knocked out]

CoR don't have a prayer unless others take an active role. But even if they stand alone against those odds, and it ends up being a PvP slaughter, that's how it'll play out in the story, and at least one group will try to put a story to it beyond a mere gankfest.

We'll PR it into a glorious defeat! :D

If my limited experience of these folks bears out, then they will get bored of easy kills fairly quickly and start fighting each other. But that supposes they turn up in the same instance. But who knows. There are plenty of PvP groups who RP as lawmakers too.

Naming all defending ships "CMDR salomé" could be confusing lol.

But yeah, explorer types vs ganking experts with expertise in instancing : it's gonna be a seriously one sided fight.

This will be one very interesting event.

Lady Kahina Loren died on Prism during the Reclamist attack in 3301. Evidence shows she was placed in statis in a medical pod but has never been properly revived. The emergent personality of Salome came into being solely due to her reanimation without memory restoration. This ghoulish personality Salome of course will do anything to preserve itself and naturally claim that it's whole memory of being Kahina Loren has been retained. The actions over the past year of this Salome of mass murder, treason, and terrorim speak for themselves as not being the actions of the devoted daughter of the Empire Lady Kahina was. Justice and humanity demand that Salome be captured, placed in stasis and then revived properly with Lady Kahina Loren's memory restoration chip. Imperial Law will have been satisfied with the criminal Salome executed and her year of treason and crime ended.

It's the only humane and lawful course.

Let them announce that whatever Salomé wants to show us is 10kly away from the bubble and those PVPers can kiss my a**. Seriously, I think FDev is smart enough to come up with something which don't leads to a massive gank and is restricted by instance limits.

So the Feds have jurisdiction in non Fed territory and hold children responsible for the actions of their parents.

Great judicial system you have there.

For clarity, is there any area that isn't covered by federal law? Is it just parents crimes you are liable for or how many generations does it go back for? And why haven't the Feds put a bounty on everybody whose attacked me outside of fed space yet?

Or is this just an excuse to meddle? That sounds more Feds to me.
