THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

All previous clues lead to this point. This summary clue should highlight them and identify previous gaps.

Cheers,

Drew.

"DAMM YOU DIRTY DREWS!" Honestly bud. How on earth were we ever to find that information? That's mad.

Madder that us I mean...

Sigh.

Literally man. I personally was pretty sure about two of those clues. Tentative about three more, and im one of the early Rifters. I cannot understand how it would be possible to gather this information in game without you eventually doing what you just did. Only saying man...

Shaking my head here. What a waste of time.

An impossible waste of time.

I went to the Rift Alpha Site again, to see if they finally placed it how it's supposed to be. Nope, still sitting partly on the cliff and the central tower is still floating mid air.

But now i get 2 "Unregistered Comms Beacon" markers in navigation. Point both to the same satellite though.

Lateral thinking here.
If no one solves the clues, then no one will know where Salomé and her friends will start from or be travelling to on the 29th. That might mean they can stay one jump ahead of their pursuers at all times and survive to reach their destination. We should stop trying to solve the clues immediately, for the future of civilisation!
No? Oh well, just a thought...
.
For what it's worth, I think these clues may all have been findable in-game before today, since a couple of them stand out in my mind as being mentioned in Galnet articles (although I could be wrong... this is just from memory). However, I see no way before today of recognising that those phrases were clues, let alone associated and needing to be collected and found to be pointing to one location. Furthermore, if they were clues to something that has been in game for a while and is meant to be findable but _that_ difficult to find, then perhaps it's a location well outside the bubble?
.
Another thing to consider is that the event is supposed to tie up certain affairs quickly - this is not a week-long CG. I would guess that it might be over in 1-2 hours, maybe slightly longer. Or 5 seconds if we solve the clues and the protagonists all get shot up immediately they appear because those who want to claim the bounties were waiting for them. The time constraints will limit how far we have to travel to find locations, meet characters etc. so I would think a good jump range will still be helpful.

I have a few ideas on this, but it would be easier to discuss in a chat room setting with some people already familiar with the back story. Is there a forum for that?

About Fibonacci series and zero: specifying whether the series starts at zero (modern usage) or one (classic) is important, if you wish to refer to a specific position.
For example, suppose you said "the eighth number in the Fibonacci series". With the modern usage, that would be 21, but with the classical, it would be 34. So by saying that zero is a part of the series, you are clearing up which definition you're using.

@ CMDR_Mogriax: Mr. Wagar isn't employed by Frontier Developments, and these puzzles aren't done by them. He wrote a book for them (Reclamation) and is writing another one (Premonition), with these events serving to determine the conclusion of his upcoming book. Of course, there has been some promotion done by Frontier (the GalNet articles and the newsletter mention), and we hope that there'll be reveals about actually in-game stuff, but these puzzles are more like "sponsored by FD" and less like "created by FD".

Formadine Rift - This is what I have so far…

1. Styx
2. Uranus?
3. Callisto
4.
5. Nyx
6. 51 Pegasi
7.
8.
9.
10. Chronos
11. Daedalion
12. Chione
13. Iapetus
14.
15. Iris
16. Erebus
17. Jupiter
18.
19. Erinyes?
20
21
22?

There's a certain course from body to body and these are all in the same general area. I don't know what the course is. Maybe starting at Styx and jumping to each body in order?

Salome visited the outer planets when she went to Sol.

If this resolves to one locations, Jupiter seems to be a candidate.

So we've got a bunch of names out of Greek mythology that we need to parse into a system name.
Great, I've been doing that for a year and got nowhere.
Wake me when you've solved it.

Don't know how this is related to the bigger picture here, but I've found some interesting stuff reading up on greek mythology that I think could be important, so here goes:

Some lines of the riddle could be connected to Thetys, who was one of the daughters auf Gaia.

- For example, as the "Titaness of fresh-water and clouds", she is (among many others) mother of the goddess Styx (which is also the name of the river to the underworld).

- Additionally, Thetys was a foster mother to Hera and placed a curse upon the star constellations of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor to "forever roam along the night sky and never wander below the horizon", on Hera's request.

- And while this might be reaching a bit too far, Thetys also was the grandmother (mother of the mother of) of the Pleiades, whom we've encountered in some E:D mysteries prior to this one.

I think #4 is Eurydice in the Eulexia system. It's orbited by the Station Mad J Wagar's ;)

What?

It's not like he's hidden sand on a beach.

Some of the phrases have echos in Chaucer and I'd guess any author who had a latin education in the past 500 years.

Anyone been to Tionisla since 2.3?

How's the graveyard looking?

Clues from the graveyard.

Styx fits first clue and if you use the 3d map Macklin did then it points to Heart nebula.

If they are all supposed to point to a single location, what about this simple solution: could each clue's answer provide a character for a system name with 22 characters? Will require some iterating with so many clues having multiple (greek/latin/etc.) possible answers. But the last character being 0/zero would make some sense.
