Bug with ship name plate?

I bought a nameplate for my ship, however when I equipped them the ship ID took every slot:

I assume this is a bug, just wondering if other people have had the same problem

Heres the outfitting screen btw:

That's not a bug.
You've just equipped the "Boundary" ID tag decals in the nameplate slot.
You need to get one of the other 6 decals, which are actual NAMEplates, to display the ship's name.

The real question is why the "Boundary" decals actually appear in the "nameplate" slots at all.
If they appear there just to give players more flexibility then how come the nameplate decals don't also appear in the ID tag slots?

Seems like something changed half way through the development process.

The ID tag is shorter than the nameplate. Thus, it will fit in the nameplate slot, but the nameplate is too long for the ID tag slot.

Nah.

The ID tags are much bigger than the nameplates.

I haven't checked every ship but I'm pretty sure that wherever an ID tag is displayed on your ship's hull, a nameplate could fit in the same place.

It just seems odd the way the ID tags show up as options in the nameplate slots but not the other way around (especially given the incorrect way the "Boundary" decal was originally described in the store).
As I said, it seems like, perhaps, they started off intending to do one thing but then they either encountered a problem or just changed their minds and did something different but left the ID tag decals showing up as options in the nameplate slots.

Marketting realised if they gave a name plate and ID tag in one pack, especially when it was the most basic version, with no embelishments, they'd sell less name plates.
