What with all of the negative vibes around the forum ATM a quick saunt over the the oculus Reddit forum put a smile back on my face. It's not all doom and gloom after all :)

Sat in my ASP last night with a Rift for the first time...
It's mindblowing.
The scale, the fun of flying low through canyons...
Got to experiment with settings some more, but for now I've set it to VR ultra and both of those settings to 1.5.
Do you have an advice how to set it up for best experience?
I'm still to new to VR, don't know which tool or settings to use :(
I7-7700K@4.5 and GTX1080Ti Strix OC.

You'll find a post in this sub Reddit on how to do just that :)

How is it running? With your setup I'd keep pushing the hmd SS up in the graphics settings until you notice frame drops ... on a 980ti the sweet spot is X1.25, on my 1080 it's x1.5.

The biggest performance boost for me though was getting prescription lenses fitted inside the Rift.
I also like to play with the AA on and the gamma turned up.

Hopefully I'll try tomorrow and let you know.

Oh my, that MMOne is just simply not fair. So much win.

Neo-ST - with a 1080Ti, you're pretty much capable of all ED can throw at VR.

Set everything in the ED options page to Ultra/highest settings.
Use 1.75x HMD Quality. 2.0 offers only a tiny visible difference and even the 1080Ti will struggle.
Leave SS at 1.0. Reduce Ambient Occlusion to Medium if you see any slowdowns.
Drop Blur to Off (not needed)
Drop Bloom to Medium unless you like blown-out highlights.

Use Ctrl-NumPad 1 to diable ASW if you're using a Rift, or use SteamVR to disable Interleaved Reprojection if you're in a Vive.

Ctrl-F to see the frame rate in the monitor window. it should not be 45fps ever (if it gets stuck at 45fps then you're still getting ASW or Interleaved Reprojection).

Thanks a bunch, will try!

Tried several options.

Yours gave me sub-45fps performance, even with Ambient Occ. to medium.

--------------------------------
Settings "Barely"

HMD Quality - x1.75
Amb. Occ - Low
Bloom, Blur - Off
Antialiasing - Off
Everything else - to maximum
BARELY 90FPS, in stations 45fps. Performance headroom -40% - 10%.
--------------------------------

--------------------------------
Settings "Working"

HMD Quality - x1.5
Amb. Occ - Low
Bloom, Blur - Off
Antialiasing - Off
Everything else - to maximum
MOSTLY STABLE 90FPS everywhere. Performance headroom hovers around -5% - 3% in stations, with occasional dips to 84-87fps (for a second).
--------------------------------

I guess it could work with x1.75 HMD Quality, but with Amb. Occ. off and some other settings lowered a bit perhaps.
Haven't even tried experimenting with Supersampling above 1.0, I don't see the point since performance is already on the verge even without it.
