Inspiration for Elite - anybody remember "Alien"?

Did you guys see the news. Sigourney Weaver is doing the voice acting for Ripley!

On a more Elite related note, I've always thought that Alien / Aliens has the aesthetic that Elite is going for. The game already has the Used Future look going, with peeling paint and cockpit surfaces showing wear.

The visuals look just right. I hope we'll get something like this when avatar play arrives.

A second mission, focusing solely on Ripley, is called "Last Survivor" and in it the player must guide Ripley through the Nostromo, activating its self-destruct sequence before reaching the Narcissus shuttle in time to escape.

Actually i found this absolutely amazing.

the possibility to be in the nostromo and be with Ripley is the dreamcometrue of my life.

And the avatar is a good version of a young Sigourney. Those screenies are quite uncanny. Really makes me hope Frontier can manage the avatars as awesomely as the rest of the game. :)

...

Yes, I've had that feeling since the first time I saw the loading screen and heard the game music. Something "Alien", "Blade Runner", "Pitch Black" ... not the stereotype clean and glossy Star Wars aesthetic.

Yay!

Some of the ambient game music gets very close to the Alien/s/3 soundtracks.

Did you know? Creative Assembly are based in Horsham near Crawley.

True that.

Yep, been there a few times in a professional capacity. Also discovered that in Horsham, EVERYTHING closes at about five, so the last time I was there I spent a cold hour in the CA parking lot, waiting for my cab :).

People have been running pre-release builds of this on the Oculus Rift. Not sure my nerves would be up to it, but I want to find out :)

"anybody remember "Alien"?"

That needs to be asked?
I suddenly feel very old....

On a side note:
In the film you see reply getting out of cryo sleep in her underwear and at the end she's getting into her space suit in her underwear. (Both formative moments for a growing lad I may add....)
In both shots she's wearing the same pair of knickers.
Given the events between these two shots they must have been pretty ripe....

In fairness, the original trilogy had the used future look to an extent - the X wings in the Death Star attack for example had scars on them. It is only the wonderful prequels that everything looked all glossy.
