General / Off-Topic Frontier Revenue Increases to £36m

For reference Planet Coaster looks to have sold approx 650k copies so far. Either way, it's a healthy position and should put pay to any idea they will have to cut back on ED development through financial pressures alone.

Yup, and it will be replaced by 'see, they are making money by putting energy in other projects!'. :D

Congratulation Frontier team. !
I'm so happy about this. I have invested so much time and money into this game, betting on it being the game for me. Looking forward many shiny updates galore future muchly lots !

Expected Revenue.

Expected.

Not trying to be a doomsayer. Just pointing that out.

This is probably based on several things:

ED 2.3 and the sale. How'd that go? Seriously, cause I have no idea.

PS4 port

Plans for Coaster may be in the works?

Upcoming 2.4 for ED, and maybe a 3.0 announcement expected to drive sales?

Not saying things are good. Well, I mean, they aren't good, in terms of player confidence in the product. But fiscally? Just remember that key word: Expected.

They expected good sales from Horizons too remember.

expected as in "we know what the numbers are up to march 31st but are awaiting final sign off from the accountants"

The estimate only includes revenues up to 31 March 2017.

Sales based upon 2.3, 2.4, PS4, ongoing sale are not included in that estimate. Fiscal year and all that.

Chill, David Braben is from the old school hardcore "dreams will come true" era. He is a god, he will make it happen, and then some!

Our wildest most ecstatic dreaming brains can not even begin to comprehend the amazing fantastic stuff that is going to happen with Elite: Dangerous the coming years.

Sounds more like that Wing Commander dude.....

Im just glad it keeps coders in a job (games development can be a pretty rough place for many people in the business - no unions!) and we get more ED. I hope a nice bonus for everyone is in the pipeline. :) And pizza, obvs.

This can only be good news. If they include VR support for planet coaster they'd sell at least one more copy! :p

So FD is working on new revenue (read new games). This comes as no surprise of course, but this could relegate ED to maintenance status, i.e., minimal changes, permanently. Not a scenario I'm looking forward to... :(

Can I just safely assume you have literally no experience in the software development field and leave it at that?
