With the 2.3 Live release it is IMO the perfect entry level for passenger missions.
Being an Elite rated trader I was never interested in passenger missions. But with the current nerfs to cargo missions and my mining profits I decided why not try them? With my current Dolphin loadout with a little mild engineering I find that low risk missions show up with 1.5m - 5M+ with good explorer rating advancement given my current lower Pathfinder rating and I get to see a lot more interesting planetary bodies. I purchased all the class 4/5 passenger modules as well as a A4 fuel scoop then just install as needed per the current missions available.
Looking at the 2.3 Orca it does even better with mild engineering being faster, more maneuverable and basically upgrades the class 4/5 of the Dolphin to class 5/6 for passenger modules per my game play. But it isn't really needed with entry level missions. Given an A-rated Dolphin at 14.7M credits and an Orca at 95M that is a lot to pay when just starting out.
The Dolphin has a lot of multi-role possibilities being fast, maneuverable, large jump range and stripped can hold 84T of cargo. One player in Beta did a video using rail guns in combat! Meanwhile for anyone considering taking on a few passenger missions to see how it works I think that the Devs nailed this one. All a player needs to investigate passenger missions plus style and grace! Let's hope this doesn't get nerfed.
