NPCs in cockpits (cosmetic only)

Just a couple of maybe small tweaks only. No gameplay changes.

Allow us to make NPCs active (up to 2 extra - as long as the ship has spare seats, naturally if you have all seats full then you don't have spare slots for multicrew, or they get pushed out if you do). Those NPCs appear in the seats you have.

They don't have to do anything, just be cosmetic.

PS: Holome for NPCs you hire would be awesome, cheers.

Before the Beta I always said this would be the best option for explaining the "jump in/jump out" nature of Multi-crew in 2.3. Basically, rather than Telepresence, make it kind of a Matrix-style "Agent Smith" kind of thing, where the players take over the NPC's for the duration of the session.

Either way, I see no reason for our Fighter pilots to be buried in the bowels of the ship!

Interesting analogy; launching the fighter is like clearing the bowels.

That's a great idea. Maybe in 2-3 years. Meanwhile enjoy some more grind and bugs!

I actually read this title differently than it was meant for. But it did spark a question, one I haven't investigated yet. Do NPCs now have pilots showing in their cockpits? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but something is generated for their messages, even if they are often helmeted.
 
Yes please. I want any NPC's I employ in my cockpit, not buried away in the ship. There are seats in my cockpit so that's where they should be seated.
Player commanders via multi commander can just replace them as appropriate to keep the numbers correct.

Give me holo-me control over my NPC crew too. If I can make myself look how I want then no reason not to do the same for them.
