I'm trying to remember the name of a game.

I played a long time ago, I'm pretty sure it was on the C64. It was kind of a space trader (no not elite) where you're in a ship, but you didn't really fly it, and you can buy upgrades and weapons for it, and I remember trading like gems and stuff. There was a screen you interact with other aliens and stuff and if your diplomacy didn't go right or you came across something hostile they'd jam you communications and you'd have to fight, which was basically just firing lasers at their ship in your viewer until one or the other of you lost or gave up, at which point the words "hauling frequencies open.." or the like would scroll up the com screen. The control screen kinda looked like PSI-5, but i don't think that was it. It wasn't any star trek or star wars game either. For the life of me I can't think of the name

Could you be thinking of 'Tau Ceti'?

No that doesn't appear to be it.

I'm killing my brain on this one. I can remember just about every C64 game I ever owned, problem is this wasn't my game, I used to play it over my cousin's house. I remember after playing it a while and getting my craft upgraded after a while we'd always run across one enemy who was hostile and couldn't kill. He couldn't get us neither, and it usually ended in just driving the guy off or escaping somehow.

The interface looks similar to the screen for PSI-5, but I'm sure that wasn't it.

I don't think that's it.

It weird to say this, but the graphics on the game I'm thinking of were not as good as that....

I recall something about this game, the gems or crystal that you got, you could zap them with a laser or something to make them more valuable, provided you didn't destroy them in the process.

You know back then, one guy could make a whole video game by himself, thats why the platform had literally tens of thousands of titles. If it wasn't popular, I may never find out what it was.

I can't help with the name, but the annoying thing is that now you've described it I'm sure I remember this game as well.

Drat you, sir!
