Ship Builds & Load Outs Finally got my Python kitted out, looking for advice

So I got back from Colonia a few days ago and I've refitted the Swordhawke for general purpose work around the sphere. I'm also planning on doing some bounty hunting and other moderate combat while I'm home. This is how she's set up right now:

I've already engineered a range boost for the FSD, but I'm only pulling about 20ly/jump right now. I'm trying to decide if it's worth modifying a few things to increase range. Advice is welcome.

The best spin on a G5 FSD would provide a 50% increase, around 24 LY with your build (perhaps a little more with good secondaries), as to reducing mass I'd lose the extra fuel tank as you've got a scoop and the Pythons large standard tank also the SRV bay as you should be able to buy one when you need to in the bubble.

I usually fit medium turrets on my general purpose Python builds as they deliver enough damage to small agile targets and fit class 3 gimballed weapons to the large hardpoints, I've tried an all rapid fire MC build crazy DPS but burns through ammo at a frightening rate, current build below.

Hmmm, good points about the fuel tank and SRV bays; those are leftover from my trip and I'd gotten so used to them being there I think I blanked them lol

I'd been running with two large gimballed pulses and a large gimballed multi plus two medium beam turrets, but after a few dustups I switched them out. I'm having trouble getting my bow onto the enemy consistently so I figured I'd increase the turret firepower.

Do you find the hull reinforcement packages superior to the military grade bulkheads overall?

My build is heavily engineered and I don't recall having the shields drop for quite some time, have a look at the defence tab in Coriolis the effective shielding due to booster resistances is substantial (almost 2000 MJ thermal).

As to mil armour it's simply down to cost as I've somehow ended up with a fleet of over thirty ships (a Python miner, FGS, 2 x FDS, 2 x Vultures, FAS, FDL, Orca........................ etc) so for PVE it's not cost effective and high grade engineering mods can provide similar levels of protection and lower mass, I'd probably swap one of the HRP's for an MRP instead but it's fine for the moment.

Engineered thrusters can transform the Python the G5 DDT 6C thrusters improve agility and speed by over 20% compared to stock 6A that would make a lot of difference against smaller agile targets.

You've A rated the life support and the sensors, D rating them will give you more jump range. Only certain specific build types need to A rate those. You can also engineer both of them to be lighter and you could potentially engineer your bulkheads to be light too.

Sounds like I'm headed for some more engineers for further tweaking. It hadn't occurred to me to even look into weight reduction for the bulkheads; I must have been out too long...

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll get the old girl tuned up yet!

To give you an idea, my Battle Python jumps around 23 LY but that has no cargo space and carries large shield cell banks etc. My trade Python jumps 43LY but that has no weapons and nothing really but cargo space and light weight shields. Your multipurpose style of build should be able to get up to 28-30LY I'd have thought with a bit of tuning... It's all about what compromises you want to make. The tougher you want it to be, the heavier it will be.

To give you some more diversity in ideas, this is my General Purpose Python, used for mission running, collecting engineering materials (combat and surface prospecting mostly), doing some bounty hunting and travelling - already engineered.

Will eventually use a Multicannon in place of the Gimballed Pulse Laser on the bottom with.
