Two weeks? You mean 3 more days as of today? And which doesn't have to do with the instability issue that Dav fixed overnight?

I really doubt the development pipeline is affected by Drew's, or any other kind of, storytelling events.

How do you have any basis for saying the reports got *ignored*?

Yes, it sucks the bugs didn't get addressed and hammered out in time. No, the game wasn't totally unplayable. Yes, there are other outstanding issues, too. And how, exactly, would changing anything about bug reports affect having enough time to shove everything through the pipeline?

I'll point out here, prior to the patch the game was practically unplayable *for me* because I'm on a Nvidia 550 ti that would drop me to 5 FPS any time a landable HMS planet was in view. I had to wait all this time during the extended beta for multicrew, just to get the fixes in performance so I can at least have my acceptable 25-35 FPS on planets back. As a solo player, holo-me and multicrew had little fascination for me personally.

Yet you don't see me throwing accusations left and right or declaring that Fdev doesn't care or is irresponsible or is doing things wrong.

Really?

"How dou you have any basis for saying reports went ignored?"

"Yes it sucks bugs didn't get addressed."

Really? You literally answered your own question, and yet you're still asking, like the claim was incredulous or in doubt or some such.

There is no point conversing with him. There is never a point or logical consistency. Contrarianism is his game. Spend your energy elsewhere.

I'm not saying they can't do it. Holome is pretty good, if a bit useless. But the progress towards will be glacial. If season 3 is space legs and atmospheric landings, I'll eat socks and YouTube it.

At this point I'll be grateful if there IS a Season 3. I won't BUY it until it's finished and feature complete, mind. But I will be grateful if the game makes it that far.

True. Seen that before, to be honest.

Space legs AND atmospheric landings? Not going to happen, you may keep your socks.

I think David Braben mentioned in the 2.3 release video that space legs were coming. Why make an avatar if you cant make it walk around. And the ships interiors are already made/developed to support space legs. I bet they already have a walking talking avatar in their studios. Enough about that. Elite has great interaction with your ship. You can buy modules, upgrade these with engineering, buy unique skins both for the ship and your avatar. This is great, although I miss to interact with something persistent in the universe. Just having an NPC as a wingman would do great which levels with you and have the ability to roam around on its own. Much the same as a fighter, but a hireble wingman. This you can send on missions and he can join you on missions. Just with the wingman consept and having a bar to meet up with space legs would do a lot for the game. A lot. Yes and iron man mode. The ultimate Elite game with escape capsules. Well there is a lot you can do to improve this gem of a game. Fanboy over and out :D

We know that space legs is coming for years, the question is when? ;)

NPC crew and wings would be awesome...

Abso-bloody-lutely. I couldn't care less for letting random 12yr olds into my 650,000,000cr Corvette, but would love to have useful NPC"S, hell, I'd really love to employ NPC's to fly a couple of Type 9's for me so I don't have to endure the damned things...

To all this people asking for npcs crew, what exactly do they expect them to do? Buff stats?

I'd like them to actually fly ships and make me credits or mine resources/materials, even act as a wingman. I'd gladly spend credits on building a mail service business and sending NPC's off in cheap high jump range DBE's to deliver the galactic mail...

So basically you want the X series kind of fleet management. Is that even feasible in Elite's p2p universe?
Not saying I wouldn't like it, quite the opposite actually.

Yeah, I'd be lying if I said X3:AP wasn't open on my primary monitor right now...
It should be possible. I mean, people might not see my NPC's travelling but I probably should be able to no problem. It'd be just the same as having an SLF but the SLF is being launched from a station?

I think the main driving force behind us not having NPC crew, no NPC wingmen, etc is because of the human multi player vision of the game. They know if NPC's were added in this fashion, that even fewer players would use the multi player features. It's all about trying to shoehorn players into playing with other humans.

Probably, and it will be the death of the game. Their multiplayer implementation is threadbare, to put it nicely.

They have been trying for over two years and can not even do that.

Sit there in the seat next to me and be fully voice acted. I couldn't care less about stat boosts. More important to me is how you might find these NPC crew - hire them, rescue them, encounter them as part of a special mission, etc.

True, give the face a story. Even if its a story you sort of have to write yourself. "Bought from the 'crew shop'" isn't a fantastic opening paragraph to any story...
