New cockpit icon?

I'm embarrassed to say I've only just noticed after many hours of play an icon on the dashboard I don't recognise.

Immediately under the radar there are four small equally spaced circles and a yellow bar under the left-most one.

I can't find reference to it in the owner's manual and have fiddled with all buttons, settings, locks and cruises, and the little yellow bar doesn't shift.

Is this a placeholder, mere decoration or am I missing something important?

It is a placeholder for when we can move around our ships - it shows a bar under any of the 4 toilets when they're engaged.

Are you referring to the sensor range indicator? The yellow bar will slide from left to right according to the zoom level you have selected for the sensors.

You may need to map the sensor zoom controls in Options to use this feature if you haven't already.

You wouldn't be in a Sidewinder by any chance?

If you are, then you're probably seeing an in-cockpit detail, not a part of the HUD, because I'm not seeing them in my Cobra.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the OP was talking about the scanner range bar, but rather what I can now tell, thanks to the screenshots your, are four equally spaced screws in the sidewinder's dashboard that appear to be right below the scanner in the sidewinder's cockpit.

Without a screen shot from the OP highlighting what they're talking about, it's hard to be sure, though.
