Grind Mortgage: Paid in full.

Well, that's it.

I've reached "King" in the Imperial navy and "Admiral" for the Fed's.
No more farming data-delivery missions and searching the boards at every station for donation missions.
I get to (mostly) do whatever I want, keep all the credits I earn, and spend 'em on whatever I want.

Go me! :D

S'funny, I've been playing tonight and I still find myself scouring the mission boards and as soon as I see a donation mission I'm already checking that it's for a suitable faction and the mouse cursor is hovering over the "accept mission" button and then I have to consciously remind myself that I don't need to do that any more.

Freedom!!!

'Grats!
I don't feel like I've any motivation to go further than Duke / Rear Admiral, unless it's future proofing against another couple of rank locked ships?
Before the Cutter, I'd decided the Empire had had quite enough of my money as I got the Clipper when it was briefly rank exempt.

Congratulations. But in reality you never needed to do that. You chose your own path, and always had freedom if you wished it.

It's really sad that the OP's idea of enjoying a game is grinding donation missions to reach the required rank for a big ship. It's just about as sad that to get those ranks and that big ship faster, the game requires the player to do that. Just my opinion. Whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, TBH I was really only ever in it for the ships but then I found my Empire rank creeping up toward king (as a result of mining in Imp' territory) so, once that happened, I felt like I should do the same with Fed' rank too.

The problem with making assumptions is that you can often appear a bit of a tool as a result of it.

Personally, I've never been one to deliberately grind missions to any specific end but, if you DO want the cool toys, in ED, you'd have to be an idiot to ignore things that can help you achieve your goals when they present themselves.

I'm just saying that it's nice to not have to be sidetracked by those things any more so, unless you've got something constructive to say, sling your hook and rain on somebody else's parade. [up]

No chance.

Now I begin to implement phase 2 of my plan for galactic conquest.

I have this plan which involves a gigantic spherical space-station with a whupass laser attached.

So other than a title change, no other gameplay, story or anything else of note beyond one less mission on the mission board? Anything remotely worthy of the title "king"?

You don't get any ships for King or Admiral. I feel as though you are just repeating something you heard someone else say - without actually knowing what the deal is.

Alas, no.

You'd think a rank like "king" would at least get you reserved parking at Imperial stations or something, right?

Also, I notice the Imperial Agent ship pilots are still just as smarmy and condescending as ever.
You'd think they might have a bit more respect. [sour]

No assumptions were required. You said yourself, "No more farming data-delivery missions and searching the boards at every station for donation missions. I get to (mostly) do whatever I want, keep all the credits I earn, and spend 'em on whatever I want.".

Grinding crappy donation missions and farming data deliveries are just totally rubbish ways of getting what you want so badly. FD should be embarrassed this is all it takes and players need to look at their incessant need to to succumb to this type of pee poor gameplay.

Grats on the ranks OP. After grinding for a 'Vette last year, I have quietly got to 44% in the Vice Admiral rank without actually realizing it. I ranked indirectly by bumping up faction reputation around the bubble to get higher passenger mission payouts.

Make sure to buy the green weapon color back from the Store. :)

Congratulations. I'm still to do any mega rank grind (been playing since go live). Though it still makes me laugh that you can be both things when they are essentially enemies. My Immersion is broken ;) Or maybe I have missed a bit of Lore that explains this...
