Yeah and what would of happened if they waited a week or two for a more stable release?

"Why didn't you release 2.3 in time for the Easter holidays? I had four days off and NOTHING to do all weekend!!!! I waited 6 months for this. You suck Frontier !!!!!!!"

I would suggest that leaving players with the game unplayable over easter weekend is worse than letting everyone play the current version.

I would suggest that you'd get some annoyance for the delay, but far less than was caused by the mass of bugs.

After all if everyone saying "why the delay?" has a beta player responding "trust me it ain't ready" they'd probably realise pretty quick that it's better to wait than to have a mess...

If you are deluded and think you can release a game and not have bugs you are mistaken, when games where less than 48k in size they still shipped with bugs and if you where lucky you got a list of 'pokes' in a magazine to fix the bugs. When Elite II came out it fit on a single floppy it shipped with some bugs that where never fixed, by then fixes where acquired by patches on disks on the front of magazine covers.

I actually remember games being released with no significant bugs, which everyone was able to play from day one without a patch, without a problem. There were companies "back in the day" renowned for not shipping anything that had bugs in it. Some companies built their entire reputation on the quality of their releases.

Sadly those days are long gone.

Mostly because of the amount of gamers who'll accept a load of horse dung and shout at anyone who insists it's not the best meal they ever had!

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Enough with the off topic console wars/pc master race/who is and is not a whiner stuff.

Keep comments focused on the topic, please. Off topic posts will be removed.

Oh no, I agree...

I was merely pointing out that any eventuality would of led to someone being disgruntled.

Although, the saga would of been a lot shorter with a more delayed release, people would of forgotten after a day or two.

As a paying customer, I don't appreciate being mocked for complaining when the product I paid for isn't delivered to me as advertised.

You were not mocked. As Brett explained, Mining salt was a light-hearted way of saying 'we trawled through the abuse and got some good feedback' and after some of the comments sent their way, they were far more restrained than I would have been.

I'm inclined to agree, I took the 'salt patch note' to mean they were poking fun at themselves for their own screw-ups.

IMO - Patch notes need more light heartiness.

I mean, I read somewhere that you could remove the corrupted sections...but I'm not going to subject my family to even the thought of rotten meat being nearby as we like to eat our meat while it is still bloody.

Here in the states, we have fine dining establishments so crazy that rotten meat is actually a thing, they just slap a city name on it like "Kansas City Dry Aged" and all of a sudden, it's justified.

Agreed. Isn't it rather telling when people get salty about being called salty? :p :D

That's standard practice for meats. 21 day matured steaks are what most restaurants would sell, at least here in the UK. It allows the flavours to mature and the meat to tenderise naturally. It's nowhere near rotten.

Stop, I want to sound smart and in-the-know because I had my first aged steak a few months ago! But I am glad to know it really isn't rotten, just....meat that's getting there...

Let's spare a moment to think of all the PS4 players who FD have completely excluded by not providing them a flux capacitor. :p :D

I'm from KC...I know my meats. It is a rare occurrence but some grocers will repackage old meat.

I wouldn't call aged meat the same as rotten...well, it is, but it is rotted with only the best of intentions and specially selected fungus. Like cheese, I suppose.

They also remove the "ruined" parts before cooking/packaging.

That's off-topic.
