Youtube Sponsored Advert to ED just popped up for me

I just clicked on a youtube video, and before the video played I got a sponsored advert for Elite Dangerous coming up. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to let you rewind or repeat those ads, so I only got to see it once and it was already about 10 seconds in before I realized that I was not going to just press skip as normal.

It also didn't look to me like an existing trailer that we've already seen.

Has anyone else seen this or is this old news?

I get a lot of elite ads on youtube after watching various Elite content makers

they are quite nice to watch

I'd love to but it was already nearly half through before I realized what was happening - at first I thought I must've clicked on one of the old ED trailers by mistake.

It had a couple of quotes from the reviews near the beginning coming up on the screen, and some scenes of the capital ships from Empire and Feds both in space together. Various sweeping shots of combat as normal.

On first glance I didn't notice anything that seemed new - it seemed more like a generalized advert possibly targetted at PS4 users.

I'm trying to get it to appear again by randomly watching YT videos but no luck so far!

I remember an old ad back around beta when it showed a huge derelict ship and two, smaller ships with their lights on buzzing around it, investigating with some radio chatter. Then, the big ship came to life and all hell broke loose into a big battle. I can't find this ad anywhere now - did I imagine this?!

That definitely happened. i remember that one. They were sideys or cobras i think

Unfortunately you can't really link them - they are the adverts that play automatically. If I send you the link it will just take you to the target video I was originally trying to watch rather than the advert. Whether you see the advert is dependent on individual user, what region you are in, your cookies and probably a million other factors.

If I can't skip an ad or block an ad, I don't watch an ad.
The advertising industry is the single biggest reason we have to have such extremely high bandwidth connections at home - so we can be bombarded by crap we're not interested in or wouldn't accept if given away for free, let alone buy.

And if I happen to skip or block an Elite ad.. well guess what, I've already bought it, so I have no need to buy it again, now do I?
And if the video's creator doesn't get their .003 cents because I skipped or blocked their ads? Tough, get an actual job.
