LOL - I'll happily post the app up on MediaFire if anyone's interested - PM me if so!
ED is fully playable without the big 3rd party tools like EDDB or Inara.
Of course a notepad or spreadsheet to keep notes of what you have personally seen is handy, and tools that are basically glorified notepads are fine (see Genar-Hofoen's Captain's log), but the most popular ones out there go further than that.
The spirit of ED is that of discovery, that of figuring out stuff by yourself. For trade, actually finding a juicy trade route is half the fun, and if you take that out of the equation with crowd sourced information, then the game just turns into a grindfest (because otherwise the gameplay is a bit stale and simplistic). For combat, trying out new weapons and figuring out which one is most efficient against what, and fumbling your way around the outfitting of your ship was supposed to be part of the experience. Etc..
IMO the existence and popularity of tools like EDDB and Coriolis and the absence of these tools IG shows that a significant part of the playerbase simply picked the wrong game.
OK! Now anyone complaining about people complaining about ED and saying they should write their own game are quite welcome to fund me £200 million so I can make it.
...As much as I love the guys who make these tools, they are acting like prima-donnas here. They can damn well get in line with the rest of us who WANT things.
I wouldn't have been able to make any sort of start in this game without these tools.
Can someone tell me what, in detail, the 3PD's are asking for? What do they think Frontier can offer? I don't understand.
Most of us survived a year or so without these tools. Somehow...

No he nails it. But the mob will win, I'm pretty sure.
It would be nice to see Frontier more involved in such projects
Did you miss how the refineries say they trade with mining stations, then you look and find out the prices are opposite of what you expect, so that the consumer will sell it at lower prices than the producer of said good?Wow? Are there in game tools for trading? Never found them...
