THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

I think it might be a little harder to figure out it's path though. It doesn't have an FSD so wouldn't travel as we do. I don't know if that means it had more of a direct path or if it zig-zagged more to refuel or whatever. With some of the seemingly oversights already made, maybe they didn't even put that much detail or consideration into it.

I'm confused, the Gen ships launched in the 2nd Millennia don't have FSDs but why do we think the Dynasty Expedition ships don' t have them ? They launched the same year that frame shift drive was announced, ie 3270. From what I can tell these ships were launched after Rebecca discovered whatever it was she discovered in the Rift. By 3270 she'd returned to the bubble and was ready to retire, in fact she got wiped again for her efforts by the MIB.

There's still an open question as to who funded them correct ? (e.g. Sirius, Hans in some new incarnation, DW, Bill Gates foundation).

I'm still playing catch up from a long absence so maybe I just missed some basic data point.

Maybe we should have taken "follow the RR line" far more literally than we did :p I'm tied up in the bubble helping the new trade CG tonight, but I'll arrive at the Soul Nebula base tommorow night and will have a more coordinated approach from there.

As a heads up, the Soul asteroid base is quite a haul from the primary star. The Heart base is quite close...a little over 1000ls.

Can live with that, its whether or not my game locks up and task kills itself when I alt tab that I need to worry about, it's been killing me recently and I've been trying a million things to fix it. Wonder if i'll make a dent into my elite exploration progress with the trip.

I was 22% past Pioneer when I left the bubble for the Soul base. It only moved me 3%.

On locking the thread: Take it up with the moderator, we don't have anything to do with that

On confirmation on more content to be found: We'd love that, some of us have been asking for it, not doing anything until we got it, but even then a whole myriad of issues including the content being said to be in the game but not actually accessible i.e permit locks or CTD bugs that we have incredible experience dealing with makes this a tricky issue

On R-R line: The RR line is supposed to take you toward the FR, not down into the galactic basement. The various maps produced can get a bit confusing without known points of reference - I once thought the FR was closer to Colonia than Sol! The system the Zurara was found in is apparently somewhat near the RR line for reference.

To my knowledge I think thats correct; others more informed more than welcome to correct as needed.

Best candidate for a flight path is the one we were figuring out earlier in the thread, along the outer-bubble systems that Sirius had been colonizing as a result of Dynasty's efforts.

Edit: That or RR line.

Hah! Well who even runs the GalNet? They may of made the post just because "enough people are talking about it", but skimped on details because they don't want to cause a stirr in the populace.

Aaaaaaah I see. Interesting. We can submit our own posts? Why is this so underutilised? Or is the screening process really time consuming and FDev would be better doing other things?

Galnet is owned and ran by the Pilots Federation (lore wise). I imagine the community manager oversees whoever makes the post on the dev team?

If you trace the line along on the Galmap, The RR line pretty much lines up perfectly with the Zurara. This is why I keep saying we should go further along it. I'll be heading to Heart base soon as a pitstop on the way. Probably not today because I'll be exploring all systems I come to on the way.

The current FSD tech didn't come out until 3300. They had a longer range technology then but it was reliant on some secret fuel formula and beacons to extent it's range. Here's a link the the lore page but the article specific to tech isn't written yet. You'll have to parse through the other lore pages to put together details.

It wasn't available for general consumption till 3300 but the first development announcement was in 3270, it's referenced in Altera.

Dramatic new progress has been made with a revolutionary new hyperdrive mechanism. Known as ‘frame-shifting’,
it is believed that if early prototype tests are successful, the new units have the potential to cut transit times from days and weeks to just seconds, heralding a new dawn for interstellar commerce and exploration. It will be years yet before the technology leaves the research labs, but it promises a revolution in space travelunseen since

It stands to reason that the Dynasty Ships had these prototypes, and more importantly the funding for them came from the same source as the funding for frame shift development itself. (I firmly believe the holovid news blurb was dropped into Altera specifically to make this connection a year later when Dynasty Ships were discovered, both events occurred in 3270).

I'm just doing a sphere around the Zurara at the moment but plan to start heading further out along the RR line after that. I'm really hoping something is out here and this isn't just a giant nothing burger.

Whilst it might have been possible, I thought Drew already stated on this thread about the Zarura still having a pre-fsd hyperdrive. Of course, I might have misremembered or imagined this.

Double heads up folks:

1) Some progress has been made re: 3rd party app issue, Devs have asked for the websites to bring up their stuff and have engaged in discussion with them at last.

2) Drew is being interviewed on the CQC stream tonight.

Ahh thanks Spocks, that was more or less what I was getting at in my original reply, that the facts as I knew them meant it was possible but possibly I'd missed a data point.

If Drew said, nope, then nope it is. It's really only relevant in terms of who ultimately funded the Expedition. From a route perspective any system between the bubble and there and beyond is fair game.

That's sadly a risk we have to take. I really hope there's more on that trajectory to be found, but it might equate to nothing. I'll be doing the same as you when I'm there.

But as on Discord, i promise not to hurt Salome. No guarantee for others, but i solemnly promise on all i hold dear not to fire a single shot at Salome. That's a solid promise.

That's actually quite a brilliant strategy. I'm not a fighter myself, so won't stand a chance against a fully rigged PvP ship, but shutting them down with interdictions is just as good, and non-PvP players can pull it off, hopefully.

Then why your build includes:
Hardpoints:
2X Frag Cannon (M) (G) G5 Lightweight 1X Drag Munitions
1X Beam Laser (M) (G) G5 Lightweight 1X Regeneration Sequence

Seriously. For all explorers, rifters and whatever beings out there (who don't read the discord-channel):

The PAC has declared the region a Gun-Free-Zone. Anyone with guns will be considered a possible threat (as we all know, the story of the Galaxy is rich in betrayal, murder and assassinations). Yes, there are a few CMDRs at discord, who are maybe slightly exaggerating their pvp-skillz. But if you turn up in the area, carrying guns without being on the whitelist the following will happen:

scouts will spot you, and report you up the command chain as possible threat.

You will then be
a) chain-interdicted by the fast builds (read: you will be chasing the escape-vector for the whole event)
or
b) jumped by complete wing opening up with plasmas, rails, and whatnot. Think CG-gank, but in 'serious'. SO even If you rate your pvp-skillz as en-par with the skillset of the defenders ... It will be not enough too survive a 4vs1 engagement, right?
or
c) you will enjoy the possibilities a) and b)

Additionally, there will be no comms-activity during the whole process. You will not be able to explain yourself. The 'Thing' will be fast moving, and "Ain't nobody got time for that!" So seriously: If you do not plan to shoot at the VIPs, don't bring guns. Except if you are on a whitelist, or a well known white-hat - your chances are slim to ejoy the event.

Yes, I do know, the noises the pvp-crowd tends to make when boasting with their abilities are sometimes slightly irritating. But believe me: the no guns directive is probably the only way for slimming down the chances of some assailant/traitor/whatnot killing one of the VIPs from point-blank range. I don't have a better Idea, and I haven't heard of a better Idea.

TL;TR: If you want to attend the event as visitor, come UNARMED. At least the pro VIP-Side will very likely not open up on you. The opponents probably will, for blowing of steam due to their frustration. Bring Heat sinks, and some decent shields (if you pop a Heatsink when >2km out the attacker will likely lose target-lock, giving you time FSD-Out).

And to be extra clear: anything fitted in a hardpoint is considered a gun. So: no healing lasers, no mines, no missiles, no anything.

And spread the word along your friends: NO GUNS
Always remeber: Friends don't let their friends bring guns to the event!

I thought I saw that post too.

I've been out of here for a while, I want to help Salome on the 29th, what, where & how? :)

This is where: https://discord.gg/7fnxgex

This Discord also gives you recommended ship build's to use in the event. Everything you need is pretty much in this Discord. In here you can fill out a google form for the preferred role you are after, Whether is be Combat, Scout, Inderdictor etc.
They are also holding training sessions too bolster a better chance of success and keep Salomé alive.

As for what the event is all about.. Erimus give us a rundown on how the event is handled..

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=5436678&viewfull=1#post5436678

And the event start's at the system: 46 Eridani
