What the bloody hell's been going on here?!?!

I go away from the internet for a day and when I get back there's a new thread with over seventeen hundred posts on it. So I read the OP, can anyone summarise what the other 1737 posts are about?

Waaaaahhhhhh the universe is about to impolde cos my satnav is gone vs play the game without exploits

I could live far easier without 2.3 than without tools, for example.

I might be willing to play without either but if I had to choose I would keep tools. The quality of life they offer is far more valuable to me than anything provided in 2.3.

Concur. +1 Rep.

What was the alternative? Close the APIs, the community will be . Don't say anything, the community would be . So really, what was the alternative?

The alternative is for Fdev to improve the information flow in-game. If the player was given the tools they needed there, we wouldn't even be talking about this in the first place.

Shows how much the player base and 3rd party developers really love this game for this action to have such a wide impact and to get a response from Frontier so quickly. Not being able to use elitetradingtool.co.uk or INARA, amongst many other sites, whilst playing would be a major blow to me, so thank you all!

Have you gleaned information from the forums here, or Reddit?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not denigrating the sites - at all. They produce meta data that in ED, where the data is more raw, is less easy to access. But all the data does come from ED in the first place.

The concern I'd have is Frontier feeling constrained from changing the API as the game develops, as they see fit and radically if necessary, for fear of upsetting the API developers. That would be a bad result, the meta-tail wagging the game-build dog.

Support mostly...fer a cause that many can apparently identify with, only this time it took rage quitting to a whole other level...the result is FD sat up and took notice and acted.

Thats the short version...the long version is reading the thread...good luck with that ^

Ill try to do better! :D

But really, I've been saying over and over again for over a year that the high dependence on third-party tools is the symptom of a problem, not a solution. This is the result.
