THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

My aspx was already an unstoppable beast in anything from 1v1 to 1v3 combat against anything (not tested against a maxed corvette) It has now been refitted to be better, if anyone wants to stop me in this event, I, for one, sure as hell won't go down easy.
I stand with salome.
I'll only attack those who attack me
Platform: XBOX ONE
CMDR RAZE6114
Ship Name: AUG-BENTENMARU

Yep, you've pretty much summed up what I think of the strategy. I mean, if only they targeted armed ships with interdictors, that would make more sense...

I dunno, see I was contemplating taking part and part of a reasonable combat fit seems like taking an interdictor even though I am on the side of angels.

All these guys are going to do is blow up commanders too inexperienced to high wake at the press of a button (who lets face it are not a threat anyway) to inflate their egos and tie themselves up in a series of useless interdictions with those who know what they are doing be they good or bad. Any experienced ganker will high wake, and jump into probably a different instance of a system, meaning the death toll will be excited innocent pups who heard about this great game event and are going to be fragged hard without ever knowing why (because they likely have not read a couple of posts on a message board).

PACs rep post event will be in the toilet as let's face it they will fail and wind up loads of inexperienced/new CMDRs that they kill in their misguided attempt to be glory hound hero cool kids.

I still intend to be there and to be armed. At this point I suspect the "defenders" will kill me on sight, armed or not. Might take my gunship and open for multicrew since they added the feature, might take my courier. I don't think I'll bother with the interdictor anymore. These guys have no consideration for pilots who won't obey them. I don't intend to fit nicely into their plan or to take the most risk so they can have a meat shield for their hubris. If I'm not in an instance with a VIP I'll just play white knight and try to help anyone I see getting ganked by a wing. I'd really like to see a lot of independent pilots come together at random to knock some sense into these guys. From the sounds of it they're going to spend more time attacking players on their own side than defending anything. It should be an interesting night!

I'm excited to see how the story ends. Whatever happens, it's a great idea Drew, and I'm glad you and FDev have given it so much effort. There might be some bad blood amongst the players but that just makes a more dramatic story. What's more human than a group of people doing bad things "for" a good cause? It's almost the perfect twist for a story set in the Elite Universe.

See you out there pilots. o7

So, I don't know anything about Salomé or the Formidine Rift Mystery, but I heard that I'd be shot on sight for existing in certain systems while armed tomorrow. By people who don't represent the authorities of those systems.

Seems like that decision is driving some players on Salomé's side away from getting involved, but rest assured, it's got me involved. I'll head over with a totally normal loadout (with guns), roleplaying a CMDR with no idea about any of this, because getting obliterated by some bloodthirsty terrorists (that's how it'll be spun) will be some good RP character development.

@everyone crying to Drew because we said your ship will be killed for x, y, z reason isn't going to change anything. If you don't follow the plan we carefully crafted for safety and security purposes, your ship will be blown up. And it will be your own fault. If you want to help, be helpful. Don't be proud and stubborn. That being said, everyone is welcome to join, we're all adults so we can make our own decisions. Just know that you reap the rewards of your decision. If that means a 65 mil cutter rebuy cuz you couldn't swallow your pride, so be it.
I love this line. That's not how 'fault' works outside the mind of a wife beater.

Right on, take some rep.

I want to defend and I'm listed as fed, so I'm not independent, but I definitely do not stand at all by what PAC are doing.
I may be defending but ill try to take out the PAC pilots whenever I can for the innocents they're taking down, if I see any.

Treat them like any other hostile, threatening faction.

I know there will be no handwavium here, but I would love to see the deus ex machina of flower ships descending upon griefer and "defensive griefer" alike while Salomé and crew do what they had planned, get the heck out of Dodge.

"Congrats Rifters! For all your weeks, months, and years of toiling through the black!" [heart]

on a positive note. 53ly in my new dbx was well worth coming back to the bubble. 215ly with neutronium! Zing!

Nope, that's just books set in the UO universe - not books written based on play activities within the games.
It's still a new thing...

Do you know that for certain? Given that their storylines were often based around live roleplay events?

Still hoping Drew goes with my 'Alessia throat-slitting' twist.

Do you know that?

I confess, I haven't read every single one, but that's the vibe I get from the (admittedly minimal) investigation I did.
However, this is the 21st century, and facts take second place to winning an argument ;)

Under the multi crew options, join another ship now shows stand with Salome or fight against. Maybe don't need to take your own ship to the fight.

May the lifting of the Col 70 Grey Goo quarantine go forth as planned!

I get the feeling someone should go into the systems after the party has left and check for anything that might need sweeping up.

To heck with that man. Don't be bullied. Do you have a courier? Engineers unlocked? You can build a pretty mean little ship in a night worth of jumping around.

No and no. I don't have time for that. Even after two years playing the game, I have so little time ingame that I'm still rorting around in a Viper 4. I do have two Horizons accounts, and multiple computers, so I could - if I could be bothered - have a go at stalking the action, but pixel-based combat doesn't interest me at all. What interests me in this event is to see what happens, not particularly to influence it. But I can do that without risking multiple rebuys by watching someone else's livestream. Which I can do in the pub... I guess PAC's attitude isn't really that important to me, but it has convinced me that there are better ways of spending my time! And if the livestream is boring (which is highly likely, as the chances of the streamer being in the right place at the right time is remote), I can always talk to someone in the pub!

If almost all participants are banned from equipping weapons, on pain of "violent unscheduled disassembly", then we can use multicrew to observe interdictions, followed by rapid retreats.

I laugh at anyone trying to ban anyone form anything in game. It's quite amusing, actually...
