Chacobog was my home system (with 4 expanded systems) until Khun happened.

Chacobog was my jumping off point (last Fed system on the edge of the Bubble) for my first exploration trip (NGC 7822, natch).
I returned there for completeness and became allied by selling all my exploration data. Seemed a good place to play with the BGS.
Khun = Elvira Martuuk
My sleepy little backwater zone suddenly became a major thoroughfare and my ability to control the BGS by myself went to hell.

Gotcha, i have been there myself, quick search in the GalMap tells me i have been there at some point judging from the visited systems. But there is a new asteroid base been added to NGC 7822
now which is good.

Place was suddenly full of 'explorers' ranting about some 'Furry Dime Raft' thing.
Ok so the Cannon thing may not be related to my paranoia....
We've got Genships turning up all over, and many think are connecting the first one that Rebecca pointed us to as part of that, but it isn't, not by any stretch. The other Genships could have/ probably have legitimately fallen to "natural" causes (the attrition rate of such an undertaking would be high).
We've the Feds/Imps/Alliance all trying for a foothold in that general direction of out from the bubble.
We've now got cannon starting out there, Fdev must have given the go-ahead for that.
The rift is still permit locked meaning Salome's little escapade was not all there was to that arc. (just her part in it over).
And oddly a lot of my taxi jobs are for that direction too. (at least 4 if I'd done them).
The latest alien cut-scene is in maia (?)
The Gear for war CG is on the path out from the center of the bubble to that area.
None of these directly say "we want attention out here", but my tinfoil is getting warm. Hopefully I'm wrong yet again, or the next season is going to involve a lot of rebuys.

Vigenere encoding with a passphrase is popular but without knowing what you have it's difficult to say. Possibly you have something new with it's own encoding, possibly something old, possibly a random string of characters.

My bet is that it's pointer to the distress call in V773 Cass.
It could be one of the Jacques nonograms, but those are mostly numbers.

I'm at the FRift Alpha base. Is there a recommended technique for accessing the data point half-way down the cliff? I only have one SRV!

I tried to use the ship data scanner but it raises the beacon but won't lock on to downlaod

there is a place you can use. drive at the edge to the right of the data-point while facing it. Then use the external cam to locate a small place where you can drive and hold.
From there you can even get the message that is way down. It was actually harder for me to come back from there, than get there
