One-time gamesave copy PC to PS4?

Can we hope for a one-time gamesave copy PC->PS4?

Its fin if its achieveable bu customer contact, its fine if i have to wait days/weeks to have my character copied over.
I am not asking for cross-platform play and no "constant sync" betwwen the platform.

Just single transfer & burn the bridge :)

I love this game, but certain areas of it... i dont have time to re-grind it again :D

Sorry but FD has said no transfers from other platforms. For now with everyone starting out new I feel it best they do not allow transfers for a while. Maybe with luck it may change at some point.

Check out the FAQ.
Can I transfer my CMDR save to the PS4™ from my PC, Mac or Xbox?
We understand this is a desired request but we have nothing to announce at this time.

Allowing Save transfers would unbalance the game. I'm glad they aren't going with them. Imagine what a player could do with 200 Million credits in spare change and an A-rated Corvette or Cutter and love to grief players. A mass Exodus to Private or Solo or leave the game dead completely.

I second this retort.

All Vanilla - great way to go!! And in response to OP - while i whole heartedly appreciate your dilemma (i recently lost all my save games from a PS MB fault) of grinding - just think of the 'knowledge' head start you will have on us ED virgins...I wonder if i can get a T Shirt with ED Virgin on it...hmm might send the wrong message

Think there was some talk of copying assets over, credits for total player assets. No rank, etc etc. No idea if its been 100% decided though. This it what happens on other platforms so its likely.

Kinda hoping it doesn't happen.

The FAQ says "they dont have anything to announce right now". Which is the same answer as with VR support and i think we can all agree that this is far from a "no" answer.

Transferring a savegame would hardly un-balance the game - that transfer would happen for a number of people, right? Or you expect that that there will be this one super-lucky griefer with a corvette and absolutely no-one else? :)

New players will be grieved? ... Like... right *now* new players on PC/XBOX version cant be grieved at all? :D

Funny logic.

If you are afraid, lock the "transferred" ones to solo games for a quarantine.

Question - why are you going from PC to PS4? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my PS4 and have no intention of going back to a PC gaming rig (it's been many years). It's just most people go PS4 -> PC because, well you know. Just curious :)

Hi Old Duck while i am not the person you asked the question, I am also going from PC to PS4.

My reasons are many,
#1 I love PSVR on PlayStation I hope that ED will support PSVR at some point. VR even at $399 is a big investment who else can support VR better then Sony Entertainment?
#2 My $339 video cards died in my PC I sent it back and it was replaced now the one they sent me is crashing my PC I took it out and am using a much older $100 video card. If I play on PC i want Max settings I can do that for now.
#3 I Bought a PS4 at launch and have been excited about the community on PS4 and how close to my PC it plays. Along with trophy support PC does not have and the great PlayStation exclusives.
#4 PS4 ED is just starting and everyone in on a level starting point. I didn't know about the kickstarter and missed the launch on PC.
#5 PS4 in not missing any thing in ED. Some discoveries are taken and a few events have passed. But Elite still has plenty of planets to discover. The Universe is alive and more events will happen. New expansions will launch bringing more content to ED. Players on PC have even started a new CMDR just because they enjoy the game. Just doing what I enjoy.

Savegames probably won't be transferred. That does not happen on Xbox or PC now. Assets however.

No one will have Corvettes as you need rank. Money will buy you an FDL though. People griefing in day one Sidewinders or FDL. I know which I'd rather take. Still it will be what it will be.

Assets only moves have been performed before and eventually will probably be done on the PS4. But why throw hundreds or even thousands of game hours away having to start all over with ranks and ratings etc? Sure it's great if one just started the game with little progress. Meanwhile experienced players can quickly get into an FDL, Python or even an Anaconda probably before Frontier gets around to moves all for the PS4 entry price of $39.95. Players have paid a lot more for paintjobs. Not a bad price for two CMDRs, one in the bubble and another exploring the galaxy.

...because it will unbalance the early game for the majority of players. There will be some players that will transfer across and then grief new commanders, making life miserable. Existing players that move across from PC and Xbox will have enough of a boost as they will know the ropes / game mechanics. Also giving them access to vast amounts of money and ships would be too much.

Ah, but I did say EVENTUALLY and my post was a suggestion to consider not doing it. Once a viable player base is established on the PS4 they'll probably approve moves. It's been done many times before and the game is still working pretty well.

I might also mention that as it stands now there will be griefers on any Open version of this game on any platform and the methods to deal with them are still in effect. Mobius will be there and they have already created a PS4 community group one can sign up for.

Many reasons, but mostly:
console mobility - one box, u carry it somwhere, plug in the tv and play.
peripherials cleanup, the pad is good enough to do flying, driving, shooting etc.
more comfortable seating, bigger screen.
no windows. no OS issues. no drm/piracy techs - i buy games online via psn store.
way cheaper to get consoles (even all of them every, 3-4 years as the updates are released + peripherials) then keep up one good PC gaming set up to date.
getting old and lazy.

We are of the same mind! Ditto to Airwave. Those are all the reasons I switched to console back in the day. The only thing I miss from PC are the mods and certain PC-only games (subsim).

I am also going PC -> PS4. For me, the couch is so much more comfortable than my desk. The large TV screen helps as well. My PC is mid-range and aging quickly, but still able to run pretty good graphics in ED at 60FPS. I expect my PS4 will do the same, so no loss of quality for me.

Not sure why people are saying Frontier have said no transfers when they have clearly said "we have nothing to announce at this time" - they are obviously undecided or they would have just said no.

It's a big universe, if people are scared of being blown up by more powerful players before the game is even out - good luck! You want to worry about the kids who go into the game with the single cause to grief, not veterans who have spent hours upon hours loving and playing the game. They are not going to cause you issues.

For a sense of realism it will be far better if people were at different levels, what a dull boring universe it would be if everyone is the same.

The reality is the Elite Dangerous Universe has already started, the game mechanic is already running. Moving saves to a users preferred platform, with the user paying Frontier more money to buy the game on that platform makes economic sense for them, they aren't a charity, and your flat universe with all users at the same level is going to last.....hmmm....a day at most??

What about a compromise, users get their saves moved a week after the game is out?

Why? You can't currently do this from PC < > Xbox, so why should FDev inflict it on the PS4 newbs? It makes little sense to me. If they had a system working on PC < > Xbox to transfer saves first and then brought it to PS4 later, fine. At present there is no such system. Assets only.

I don't believe there will be a save transfer system in place by launch.

Given that they can't do it for Xbox, the chances for PS4 are slim to say the least...

(though they might be able to transfer the monetary value of your assets).

With the exception of pc, Frontier isn't in charge of how various platforms (xbox, ps4) conducts their bussiness. They designed the game to be played on pc, knowing and having to deal with customers third party modifcations (mods). Frontier is under contract to modify their game to fit the other two Xbox and PS4, and do so because of profits. Part in part, based on a total number of games each speculate they will sell. Why and or what would be the purpose for either to have a joint platform, when they are in competition to increase their individual bottom lines. Basically after purchase, one dealings are with the the company they purchased from. Any and all issues, good or bad must go through which ever one purchased from. Frontier must deal with them not us.

Frontier will get their money from xbox and or ps4 regardless of total sales by either, not us.

As an investor, I purchase stock or shares from Sony. Why would I want them to share or partner with MS were as I have no investment. On the contrary, I'd be elated if MS didn't sell one version of three. Xbox and Frontier were under contract which excludes any and all except rumers inregards to a PS4 version for a set amount of time. UNTIL that time expires, Frontier can not give definitive answeres about a PS4 version. That's why they seem so evasive. The only thing Frontire can elude to is the end term of their contract with Xbox which closes in the 2 quarter this year. AFTER which, they can go full steam forward in regards to PS4.

One buys a new Ford (PS4), one must direct any and all issues to the Ford Corp (Sony). AMC, GMC, GM, (MS) and or the companies whom make the various componet, don't give a dam about any or all issues one may have with their purchase of a competitors product. One of the main reasons MS developed Windows 10 was to decrease the amount of Customer support MS offered to numerious previous versions of windows.
