THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Ok, so running with the clone thing (...and probably exposing self's not being read up on stuff): Can *any* human's brain state be read, edited, uploaded, and rewritten (and with what precision)? ...or is it just (EDIT: ...a particular feature of...) these, possibly rare commodity, clones? If the latter; Could that make Octavia also a clone? Even same line? Could the reason "they" mindwiped Rebecca whenever they caught up with her, instead of just disposing of her, be that she made good bait for an unknown number of becca-Lintillas, planted across the bubble, who'd sooner or later be seeking her out to quite literally pick her mind (...or "meum et animam", if you like :p) - maybe after bagsying something in the vicinity of 46 Eridani? :p

You seem to have missed drews post were he explains this message, he meant that the info wasnt released from the event because a cmdr found it before the event by chance.

Is that what Drew meant?? It is a long way from what he said.

Drew said:

Tsu got there first, followed by Raan and Yuri. Unfortunately, due connection issues, we could not get the Cobra to instance correctly with the protagonists. Thus we had to give the clue manually. As you all know, the logs had already been found by this point (ironically) by one of you. Spoilers of course, but the show had to go on. Thus the message was revealed, but not in the way I had hoped or anticipated.

I.e. Drew is NOT saying the reason the info wasn't released is a CMDR found it first. He's not even saying the info wasn't released . He's saying it WAS released, albeit through a clue revealed manually.

I don't think we are past the point of no return yet. And I like a bit of science; has anyone been doing any sound analysis of the flowerhips? Is there a difference in the light patterns? Are they sending Morse??

I've been asking myself that. It always reminds me of this scene from the original Independence Day...

Yep, I agree something is there and Salomè in her Clipper and luc in his cobra must have got in. I've listened to all the other theories and the non permit systems inside, plus Salomè having a stock of jumporium and Drews tendency for Greek mythology and was just pondering when fussing my cat (whose name is Ariadne) and it got me wondering if we have a jumpable labyrinth in there. But I'd like to run it with jump range to spare and ready for the Minotaur if that's what took luc out. Got enough to buy and fit a conda and do the engineering but would leave me low and I have BGS to grind currently, but I think 46E is the way in.

I've got way more jump range than either of those ships could have and even with jumponium I can't reach anything far in col 70. I've been moving along it's edges to systems on either side of the permit lock zone but as far as I can tell there's no real "entrance" in this area. I think the content just isn't here yet, though the book will surely have a reason.

Absolutely not.

1. I would not live in America if you paid me too
If only we all were given that choice!
I do not know if anyone has yet discovered this a`
Is this known?

That's an older clue from last year. I forget the cypher details but it was solved. Might be fun to figure out again just for the heck of it.

Oh dear, I've fallen in with a bunch of northerners. But then again currently being in the lizard village in Cornwall that's just about everybody apart from 20 odd houses.

Split 50/50 Kent and Cornwall here so as southern as they come.

You manipulate the markets: GalNet bust/boom reports
You play powers against each other: GalNet Powers report

Notice these articles list systems about conflict and economy don't really list the systems affected in any particular order? Isn't that odd? Not even alphabetically. Have the shady powers that be been sending there communiques HIPS? Right under our noses where most would just brush them aside as ambient static?

Is there a hidden code here, in the key of Exodus? Does anyone really value this weekly correspondence for its face value?

Here I thought it'd be added to the list chronologically.

So, what now?

Greetings CMDRs.
I'm about to (try to) be serious, so pay attention because it doesn't happen very often...

The first part of the Formidine Rift saga has come to an end, but there are clearly a whole lot of questions that remain unanswered. In addition, if I'm reading Drew's hints correctly (first time for everything, right?) then we, the Rifters, have the potential to create content by the act of investigation - if you look for it, they will build it, so to speak.
Right now, we're all kind of flapping around, speculating about anything and everything with no real direction and quite honestly, after following the Rift mystery for 18 months, this lack of direction really sucks.

So, I have a proposal for you all:

Let's quit the theorycrafting, tinfoiling and speculation for the moment and sit down and figure out what we actually know, and the questions we want answered. Once we have some kind of consensus ('herding cats' springs to mind) we can use that to create a new 'first page' of this thread. I say 'this thread' because I'd suggest we stick with it until the mods come along and unsticky it ;)
Additionally, lets keep the Thargoids and Guardian ruins out of this thread - leave all that stuff in the Canonn thread so we're not duplicating things.

Right then.

Stuff we know:
All the stuff from the Teorge logs and Zurara - which I'm not going to copy at this point.
Something in the Rift appeared to drive the Dynasty mission guys crazy
Salome is dead - confirmed by Drew 'Machiavelli' Wagar, so we can assume she's still alive ;)
Somebody rescued Salome from the prison convoy

Stuff we don't know:
Formidine Rift
What the Rift 'threat' is?
Is the "Rift threat" the same as the threat the Dynasty conspiracy tried to counter with the Dynasty expedition?
Is the Teorge information correct?
Who is behind the Dynasty expedition?

Salome Bio
Who is behind Salome's rescue?
Why was Salome special (1)? - Octavia and the body swap
Why was Salome special (2)? - What made her running around in the Rift a threat, where we Rifters can do it with impunity

Sirius/Wreaken/MetaDrive
What happened to Commander Falchion, and what link (if any) do they have to Metadrive? - I have no idea who this is :D
Where did all those Sirius Corp automated exploration probes go?
Why was Salome near 46 Eridani? What was she looking for in that area?

Materials
What happened to the meta alloys and tantalum?

Other stuff
We could, if we wanted, run around the Rift (and Hawking/Conflux) looking for ELWs and beacons, but I think that whilst finding them might be fun (assuming there's anything there) they're 'old news' and not going to tell us anything we don't already know.

If anyone has any other facts or questions the feel free to add them - but at this point I'm going to ignore any theories or speculation ;)

Hey. how about adding "locations of the contigency sites" to the list and... why? Why 8-9kly? Why not 10, 15, 19.87654321 kly? If you're running, why not commit? Wouldn't hiding in the vast fields of stars around the core of the Galaxy obscure you further?

Also, where was the mention of cloning made in the Teorge logs, or its implication?

While I'm sure that Salome had learnt the value of escape pods, I also doubt that a certain assassin would have been intelligent enough to snipe the escape pod.
Conversely it could've been arranged to have a very public death to throw people off the trail.

If Drew decides to bring back Salome that's fine, but it's also fine if he doesn't. He will never make the entire player base happy with either result and people will rage and complain regardless. I however will be content to drop the subject.

Unless of course she would be a viable target for... experimentation.

Anyway back to the listening posts.
