Well the bottom line is whatever Drew publishes is considered the official story and canon of ED because he was commisioned by FD to write the story. Anything else is just going to be fan fiction and not a part of canon.
Sure, people can roleplay and write as much fan fiction as they want but it will never be part of the official ED story. FD is in charge of chronicling ED's official story. Period.

Actually that is not true, Drew's books are official considered fan fiction, as he does not work for FD. Only FD says what's cannon or not. His word towards the cannon story of the game matters no more than Dave's, or Bob's, or yours

Well, to be honest, if when this week began you had told me that before the rooster crows thrice, I would be getting called a carebear for (effectively in some ways) defending SDCs honour and position, I would have probably said [wacko]

Sundae's posts are so much fun, but if you look at both sides (with some data still to come out), luck played a significant role in their victory. Nothing necessarily wrong with that - after all, many things are decided partly by luck -
the Spanish Armada was defeated partly by weather.
I'm also dubious about their claim that they deliberately "played nice" during the last months in order to make this work, since I've continued to see ongoing reports of their in game activities regularly and nothing seemed to have changed. Not to mention, the Salomé objective was not for all 4 of them to get through - 75% getting through was a victory.

So, from now on I will tell anyone that Kahina Loren is alive. Salomé died, since the mission is over. But Kahina lives. Faking your death is a really good way to lose attention.

So, the non PvP-oriented player base loses the plot line they wanted the game to explore and be part of.
So, the fans of the associated novel(s) are denied the prospect of Kahina's story continuing, as they wanted.
Neither of which enhance the game, its lore or interest in it.
Already the overwhelming feedback that I've seen has been that players have been actively discouraged from participating in future events if this kind, apart from the PvPers of course.
Unless you are a nihilist who wants to damage the whole enterprise, that doesn't really equate to anyone's "win" does it?
The only "winner" so far seems to be the odious misogyny that accompanied the conclusion of this incident - yes I am referring to the "b***h" comment on his live stream video.
While this kind of attitude is embraced and lauded, it really goes to show that the game is not in a good place at the moment.

Of course luck played a significant role. We are lucky to have such skilled, patient, and brilliant pilots and strategists, as well as the dedication to win at a children's video game against thousands of opponents. The decision to let the rest of the conspirators pass through unmolested was a conscious decision on our part--trying to frame this as a victory for the PAC side is a little bit of "alternative news." So much baseless conjecture and cognitive dissonance surrounding this event, and it's all for no reason. If it wasn't going to be us killing Salami, then who? Drew issued us a public challenge, so we accepted and achieved our goal. There is nothing here to argue.- - - Updated - - -
"We" is the community. We all win--a huge, fun, high participation community event that was fundamentally adversarial and had an actual impact on the story/universe. We all win. Thank you!
