Exploration Scout

Exploration Scout

A proposal from research department of Eol Prou Group on creating a small exploration craft, based on the model of currently available fighters.

Today a fighter represents in-game some sort of “a flying gun”, with no additional functions. Our designers offer to put into operation a new type - Scout, based on the model(s) of standard Imperial, Federation or Independent fighters, replacing their combat modules to exploration scanners. It’s very possible that the space and the amount of unused power will allow to instal a lite version of FSD-drive, without an ability of entering hyperspace, supercuise-only, plus to that, it potentially will substantially increase the range of communication module for controlling it through neurolink.

Thus the galaxy explorers that are flying on a big ship, will receive at their disposal a new tool, that is faster and more maneuverable than their mother-ship. It will allow to do more exploration in exploration multi-crew sessions, when the Helm will explore one part of the system and the Scout-pilot will explore another one.

It will add and extend the gameplay, by adding a new type of vessels and will make exploration in multi-crew more interesting and useful.

An example of a Imperial Fighter:

I think all fans of distant wanderings and explorations will be very grateful for this:)

The best way for the development of collective exploration.

The use of larger ships such as Anaconda, with a few "scouts" on board. And the crew that can control it. This will open up new opportunities, more socialization, and Anaconda will finally be not just as a wooden bar. :p

In my opinion this is the best offer for Multi-Crew functionality. If this is implemented in the game, the research will be more attractive to a large number of players, which can attract more pilots who will be interested in playing together

The idea is good, perhaps, just it will recover one of the multicrew functions - a exploration. If will begin to make profit, to participants. In realities 2.3 research very exploration.
So, I think there is a sense to realize something-like.

And by the way, this solves the problem of rewards for the exploration :) Each member of the ship's crew receives rewards for their scanned objects.

This sounds like an awesome idea. I'd be interested to participate more in Multi-crew with exploration options like this one. I'd also enjoy offering guests on my Conda a ship launched exploration vehicle. Hope to see this idea go somewhere!

Hrmmmm, only to a point. After all, the vessel owner is the one spending all the time and effort flying the mothership around for months, whereas the multicrew can be bounty hunting one minute and telepresence into the other side of the galaxy the next

I'd be a little annoyed if I had schlepped my anaconda out to beagle point and then had my exploration rewards and first discoveries sniped by someone who had never actually left the bubble

In a wing all pilots get credit - there are occasional bodies out there with multiple names on the first discoveries.

But alternatively the multicrew pilot could just receive the cash value of their scans, not the actual exploration reward.

There'd be complexities to work out - can you multicrew in to scan a system which the other person has already scanned? Can you multicrew in to help someone scan a system that you've already scanned? But it seems worth trying to make work.

Nice! And one more thing, this vehicle also needs to have an SRV scanner to explore the planetary surface.

I approve!

These scouts should double up as recon ships too, with abnormally good sensor range (maximum possible in an instance -20km?), to detect other ships much farther than normal, and (basic) scan them, without the other even knowing they're there. Targeted ships are automatically relayed to the mothership, allowing them to target them too, as long as the recon ship doesn't untarget them.
Handy for both offense and defense.

Can be used as a forward scout, when approaching things like surface ruins, or space POIs, to check the area is clear.
Or as a way to look for targets.
