Keelback Multicrew

That Anaconda had a 5 second volley, then ran off. The viper NPC had a few shots in. Not exactly PvP, holding them off..

There are other videos from that guy, not all facing cowardly combat loggers. Not all successful either, mind, but do illustrate that the ship is at very least not a sitting duck compared to the other cargo ships. The SLF does come in handy for distraction tactics against unprepared opponents. That Anaconda only let off a short volley because it went to dispatch the fighter first and that gave na'qan the time he needed to batter it with missiles. Considering the price difference between the 2 ships I think it was a pretty decent demonstration of the Keelback's intended purpose. That said, the build he used probably didn't have cargo racks in it so I don't know how effective of a cargo ship it'd be, lol.

I suppose I concede. It's a damn niche though. I can understand how, in the right hands, running one in a CG could be a buzz.

Let me put it this way:
Your ship is what you make of it.
If your imagination stops at a cargo hauler,
it'll be so, but if you experiment....

Well what does this post tell me in summary?
Fd don't have a plan.
They work on superstition without a plan.

Spacelegs isn't an argument at all,
given you can fit fighter hangars in
multiple slots on the gunship.
That just reinforces my opinion,
on how they work interior vs. exterior
modules.

If spacelegs would be planned,
they had fixed CORE INTERNALS
to fit fighters to the exterior hatch positioning,
not give the pilot a choice
of fitting size x or size y.

wrong.
currently there is only a single ship where they have shown the internal layout at least a bit (anaconda)

the hatch where the fighters are launched is a fixed asset of the ship, its not replaced by any internal slot module.
The type of hangar you equip just affects how many assembly lines and spare parts you store in your ship.
it the same with the cargo hatch, that is at the same time the launcher for limpets or the bay for the SRV.

the number of internal slots, and their size does not corelate with their position within a hull - its more a limit on what fits into the hull at the same time.
(like my PC case has several places for case fans, but i cannot use them all, because my mainboard has only connectors for a limited number of fans)

Maybe.
I might imagine a 3D image of internals,
their allocation and their size,
as a hard coded blueprint.
All that tied to to the exterior model,
can you follow?
Imagine it?

Rift.

Hey, don't knock cargo haulers.
Some of the coolest spaceships around are cargo haulers.

Don't make me say the words...

The Keelback def. should have Multicrew.

It's the first ship that can launch a fighter, it's got the huge Lakon cockpit, and you even fly as the fighter in the tutorials, with your mentor in a Keelback.

Never made you say anything,
just personal prejudice is strong with me,
as piracy ships need to fill 3 roles:
- combat, for attaining cargo and surviving
- utility, for attaining cargo
- trader, for ferrying cargo back home

See the problem, without the big bonus
of MC additional PIPs?

I am not interested as to the reason why the Keelback doesn't support multi crew for her Ship launched fighter, but would certainly sign the petition for her to be updated to be able to

So ... what could be done for the Asp Scout ? [noob]

Replace the 2 medium hard points with 5 Small?
Too late to change I guess but would have been an interesting change from the multitude of 2 small 2 meduims

I mean... seriously? How is this not a thing? Come on, Frontier! Show the Keelback some love. It's basically the coolest ship in the game. It looks like the Defiant, it's pretty much Serenity and it can launch a fighter.

How come I can have NPC co-pilots but my mates can't join me? Putting another chair in that cockpit isn't rocket science (harr harr)...

Please...???? [heart]

Too true. It's also another jarring reminder that NPC crew is a concept thrown in and later ignored. They aren't crew. May as well be an expensive AI module on your ship. The whole thing is badly done. Crew is crew is crew. If a ship has room for an SLF then it needs room for the pilot.

I doubt FD is going to overhaul any ships from their current layout. Python is never getting a SLF bay, Keelback is never getting multi crew. FD is going to focus on pushing out content and wrapping up season 2. Besides the Keelback is a terrible ship. It excels at nothing. Other ships in the same class trade better or fght better. The SLF is its it's only gimmick.

The cockpit isn't huge, but from the internal cameras it does look like there'd be space if you move the main seat around.

Edit:

If you compare external cockpit size of the Asp X, the Vulture and the Keelback, it certainly looks like it should fit a second seat. But then, the Type-7 has only one chair as well. It's a bit weird.

Yea but then you'd have people flipping out that the Keelback cockpit was changed.

Is there a reason you always speak in haikus?

Is there a reason you always speak in haikus?
The haiku's structured
Like a well groomed banzai tree;
Strict rules are followed.

I've just purchased my first Keelback and hired my first crew member to fly my first fighter.

I've been in a Python for a long time and it's surprising that given its an "End game" ship (Why would you buy anything else?) the Python doesn't have a fighter bay.

Getting back to Keelie though, currently using it as a Science vessel to map out materials in a small area of space it seems durable enough. Eventually I intend to use it for Piracy too but after a little speed and weaponry Engineering (which is why I need the mats!)

And yes it defo would benefit from MC.

No such thing as an endgame in ED.
