Release EDDI - Windows app for immersion and more

Thought I'd give that program a try. FYI, it does install the voice as a SAPI5 voice compatible with plenty of other programs (including EDDI).

To use the voices more broadly, the following may also be helpful:
The Ivona voices are 32 bit voices so if you're using 64 bit windows like I am, the default system dialog doesn't show them... they have to be selected by opening a 32 bit Windows configuration dialog here: %windir%\syswow64\speech\speechux\sapi.cpl

That's the same window I get when I click on Speech Recognition in Control Panel and then Text to Speech. I have British Amy selected as my default speech voice but there are also Zira And David (the voices that ship with Windows 10).

Adding new script adds an empty script also

Hi JGM,

In beta 5 when I add a new script in Speechresponder it comes up with a new empty script called New function. I change the name to the name I want, let's say "Test" and fill the contents with my script.
After finishing there are two new scripts, my "Test" script but also an empty script named "New function" (and New function 2 if I add two scripts and so on)

Thanks for reporting this; I've fixed it for the next release.

EDDI crashing constantly

Help!!

My EDDI2 was working fine with Voice Attack but after updating it with EDSM logon it permanently crashes both VA and EDDI2, if started separately.
If I uninstall EDDI2 then VA starts working correctly. However, as soon as I re-install EDDI then VA will crash on start-up.

I have even tried installing EDDI2 and running it separately without VA running but EDDI crashes immediately.

When I un-install is there any residual files that are not cleaned up that I need to delete manually.

There's an %APPDATA%\EDDI directory. If you could zip it up and PM me a link to it before you remove it I can take a look to see why it is crashing so that it is fixed for future releases.

PM Sent. Removing this folder cured the problem for me now both VA and EDDI fully functional. Thanks

Now I just need a really sarcastic/abusive personality for EDDI and it's perfect. :p I'm going to see about maybe writing one.

Cheers Joshua/Kelly.

Just bought Amy from Deskshare for 23 quid. Almost paid 45 yesterday so super happy. Probably buy myself a Python body kit to celebrate now.
The tip for getting Amy recognised was extremely useful.

@jgm . Awesome tool buddy.

bug report i guess: During the FSD engaged event, lastsystem.x (and y and z) gives the x coordinate of the last system you were in. system.x gives the system you are jumping to. There does not seem to be a variable for the system you are jumping FROM. BTW thanks for your help. I owe you a beer...or coffee. Pick your poison.

edit: I'm not sure if this applies to allegiance also.

Wouldn't the last system you were in be the one you're jumping from? Or is it the system prior to the one you were jumping from. Could be that it doesn't consider hyperspace a null area. But if so, that would be a bug in the journal, not in EDDI.

I'm pleased to announce the sixth beta release of EDDI 2.3. This contains a number of bugfixes. At this stage I'm not planning on adding any new features, so I'd very much like to hear of any bugs that people experience with this release prior to moving this to production.

The full changelog is as follows:

  • Core
    • Attempt to handle messages coming from unknown ships with the prefix "$ShipName_"
    • Update internal list of commodities
  • Material Monitor
    • Update locking conditions for inventory
  • Speech Responder
    • Handle additional conditions for "changes from default" windows when editing templates in the speech responder
    • When renaming scripts ensure that they are renamed not copied
  • Ship Monitor
    • Update locking conditions for shipyard

Information about the first beta release and details of how to obtain the beta is available in a prior post: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...=1#post5406291

I'll try beta 6 this evening. In the earlier betas I've noticed EDDI's market report often talks over the traffic controller's "you have docked etc" greeting, is that a known issue?

ok just updated to the latest beta and I have noticed that the ((EDDI mission completed)) is not being triggered anymore, don't think I have changed anything but I will do some more testing incase someone else has had this issue

Yes, I've noticed this. I'll push out a beta 7 soon that fixes this (might be tomorrow at this rate).
